Anyone for September 2020?

Recommended Posts

Hi. its me again! So I have now been on soft foods for 10 days. I am doing pretty well, I think. LOL. I have only gotten semi-nauseous once and it was on Black eye peas. I had eaten the same thing the day before with no issue. I think I might have just eaten too fast. I have eaten ALL kinds of things too. I'm not one that can eat the same things over and over. I end up wasting a bunch of food though because making a dish, even a small one, I can only eat it like two times and then its gone. I'm not gonna lie, I have snuck a little sugar here and there with no issue. When I say a little though, I mean a little. I have had one square of a Hershey bar...lol...and a tiny sliver of a pumpkin bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes my daughter bought. I've learned to like cottage cheese with sugar free whipped topping and sugar free Jello (strawberry is my fave) mixed together....my aunt calls it pink lady and its delicious. :) I've learned to like more yogurts because I cant eat eggs for Breakfast every day!

The weight loss is slow but it's not going up, so i'm okay with it. I lost 2 pounds last week. I am trying to walk outside a few days a week but I am still get tired very easy. I hope that goes away soon.

I like that you said that because my weight loss has been really slow too it seems like I’m losing between 0.5 to 2 pounds a week. But it’s encouraging to hear you say “at least its not going up’ so hurray to that! You sound like you’re doing great, keep it up!

I had revision from sleeve to bypass due to severe GERD (with minimal weight loss due to maladaptive eating developed as a result of the GERD) on 9/18. I am thrilled to say that I woke up from bypass with zero GERD symptoms and have continued to have zero symptoms since surgery!

Today I got the all clear to move up to soft foods! I had chicken salad and I've never been happier to have something so plain 🤣 I've been allowed to have eggs this whole time, but they never settled well with me, even prior to surgery. So finally getting to have semi normal food is amazing. Definitely don't know what you've got til it's gone 🥴

Pookyl, very well done and congratulations.

Glad everything went well with you.

I was the same with the liquids as I always tend to wolf it down as quickly as possible.

They started me with a 30ml medicine cup for the 1st couple of days.

Now I'm sipping regularly throughout the days along with some pureed foods.

To be honest these are small prices to pay for the fact that everytime i step on the scales the number goes down. Its absolutely amazing that I don't feel hungry at all. I think I will need to take extra care in future so that I don't become anorexic. Lol

Try to rest as much and as often as you feel like now that you are back home.

Well done once again

In the first few weeks did you feel like your stomache was able to hold more than it should? I'm post op week 2. I have no trouble drinking lots of Fluid. Had some cream of wheat and realized I had eaten 2/3 of a cup and felt like I had room for more, but I stopped. Scares me a bit because I don't want to be able to over eat.

Completely agree! I'm allowed half a cup and after, I'm still hungry!

I had the sleeve 9/13/21 and just had a the sleeve to bypass revision on 5/3/23. My HW:321 (I'm 5' 8" tall)and I went down to 254 while doing my 7 nutrition appts required by my insurance company. So just changing the way I ate, I was able to get those pounds off w/o surgery. I have many Co morbidities mixed hyperlipidemia, diabetes, htn, MI due to covid. I had read and done quite a bit of research so I could choose the best surgery for myself and learned previous to my sleeve that someone as heavy as I was and all the Co morbidities I have, it was better in my situation to have the bypass but, my DR. Kept saying I would have the same results with the sleeve. Every time I would see him and say to him that I felt it would be best to just get the bypass, he just shot me down and said the sleeve would produce the same results! Why he kept asking me which surgery I wanted at each visit just to tell me the sleeve was all I needed still a mystery to me????? Let's just say, my Dr. Was wrong you see, the surgeries are both about the same price, but the sleeve is easier for the surgeon to perform so I think my DR. Just wanted the easier since he would get the same pay no matter what. After sleeve surgery I did go from 254 to 226 BUT that's just because you are healing from surgery and can't eat anyway as soon as I recovered! I was starving non-stop. I went right back up and stayed at 248. Still had to take cholesterol meds, blood pressure meds, diabetes meds etc. I'm now almost 4 weeks post op the bypass and feel great. I'm not starving all the time, went from 248 to 220 and doing great! Not only what you just read about my story, you also hear about a lot of people needing revision after the sleeve due to acid reflex like severe acid reflex all the time. So the bypass surgery is the only way to stop This reflux if you acquire this condition after sleeve surgery. The regain possibility is higher with sleeve than bypass so just think about all these factors before you make your decision. I wish I would have just had the bypass and saved myself from having to have 2 surgeries in under 2 years. The bypass surgery was also less painful for me lol! I don't know if the new surgeon was better or what but, I was home the next day. After the sleeve I had to stay an extra night due to the nausea and vomiting all night and for pain control.

Who knew Filet Mignon would make me so sick. Leftovers from Mother's Day.  On the upside..next day I started walking outside a little over a mile without stopping or back pain. That's a bit deal for me considering how inactive I've been for years. Woot woot!

Five-week follow-up for gastric bypass and now on lifetime food plan. No restrictions.  In all that time I was fortunate to get sick only one time, week 1, on Easter. Chicken broth...go figure.
