50 Days Post Op 50Lbs gone bye bye.

Whoop! Hope I can keep this pace going. I’m sure it’ll slow, my initial rolling seven day average was around 10-12 for the first couple weeks and it’s been hovering right around 4lbs a week since. Once I got past the low energy stage I feel like hyper-mode has been activated. No food issues. I’m capable of eating anything it seems nothing disagrees with me, just making good choices every day, and the restriction is still very high, an ounce or two depending on what it is. Ate some raw jalapeños even. I haven’t been this light since college (in the 90s). Doesn’t seem possible... wish I did this years ago.

That's wonderful! 4lbs a week is amazing; I'm kinda jealous, but mostly proud of you. That's awesome progress.

Thank you! I have to be careful, my wife had vsg about 3 weeks ago and isn’t doing as well. She’s obviously excited for me and proud but I have to be mindful of her struggles whereas I feel blessed to have had no issues of significance.

That must be challenging. I see the struggles people go through when comparing themselves to strangers on a public forum. Having to deal with that at home with a loved one must be exponentially harder.

It’s very kind and aware of you to recognize what your wife is going through and to have the forethought to be mindful of her feelings when around her given your successes. Plus one for the good guys!

However, do continue to rejoice in your awesomeness, too, and try not to temper it too, too much. If need be, do your fist-pumping here and we’ll all give you virtual high fives.

Congrats, and Good Luck!

😎

Sounds inspirational... I’m 3 days out of surgery and I keep doubting myself, like there should be more I should be doing

Really happy for you. I am 5 weeks out after having surgery have lost 30lbs. Now seem to be having issue with rash under pannus and incision site where they take the stomach out from seemed to heal, get infected, heal again, and is now open again. Getting really frustrated.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
