Sleeved on 6/5/2020 - hospital return - no weight loss since

Recommended Posts

Greetings All. May I please have a few suggestions and some encouragement? I was doing well since having my sleeve done on 6/5. Until On 6/22, I was 23lbs down. Then, I had a few hiccups. On 6/22, I had to go back into the hospital. I was not able to put anything in, and even Vitamins came back up. I stayed in the hospital for three days. I was put on fluids for dehydration and prednisone for a swollen esophagus. I was discharged on 6/24 and had put on 8lbs of Water weight. Discharge orders were for me to return to liquids and puree. Yesterday was my last day on prednisone and I have been back to exercising. Today, that Fluid retention weight is off, but I have not lost anymore. I need to keep losing! Too early for this!!

PS, I cannot [emoji102] at another Ensure or Boost. My Protein intake is terrible! I am playing around with a lot of things..... I cannot find anything palatable! I know I have to be patient with my body, but [emoji3061].

6/5/2020 - Beginning weight - 272lbs

6/22/2020- 249lbs

6/28/2020 - stuck on 250lbs!

Thanks!!!![emoji854]

You're likely stuck in the third week stall. It's normal and it will blow over. Not everyone gets the third week stall (I didn't) but stalls happen frequently and as annoying as they are it's just your body adjusting. They usually last a week or two. I've had three so far and I'm 5 months out.

It is probably a combination of the steroids and the 3 week stall. My "3 week stall" actually started at week 2 1/2 and lasted 3 weeks. It eventually broke and I've been pretty steady since.

For Protein, I like the Premier Protein shakes in chocolate and Latte (if your Dr. is OK with caffeine). You can find them at costco as well as online.

Cover the basics first... you absolutely must get your Water intake up. Many are unaware that water is needed to shed adipose tissue. Dehydration will severely hinder FAT loss efforts, as will Iron deficiency.

Thanks!! I have been doing pretty good with Water intake. I put a hint of flavor because plain water just won't go down. It is so hard. Yes, I absolutely need to start my Vitamins again. Any suggestions? The chewables make me gag.

I used effervescents for awhile... I added them to big jar of water then let it sit in fridge overnight (no effervescent bubbles by then). You might also try vitamin patches as a last resort.

For Protein I use GENEPRO cuz its 30g of protein in 1 scoop. You can mix it into anything. Soups, oatmeal, coffee, Water, etc. Pretty much anything. It has made it alot easier for me to get my protein requirements in because I am not a fan of sweets. I checked with my dietitian and she said it's good.

Hey!!! Okay I am going to look into the Patches. Letting the Vitamins sit in Water sounds doable too, now that I can drink a little more! Thank you !!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
