5 years out and trying to get back on track

Recommended Posts

5 years ago I laid on the table and had life changing surgery! I was sleeved. And I felt renewed. I got down to 138 by my birthday in December I looked and felted wonderful. I ended up at 142-145 and was ok with that . Life took me for a ride and now for the past year I’ve put on 20 pounds I know where I went wrong the hardest part is support and getting mentally back on track if you have any advice I’m open

Get back to focusing on your Protein first and staying away from the unnecessary sugars. You got this. Easier to do it now then let it go longer.

Thank you for your answer! Do you have to remember the measurements how many ounces of Protein each meal I know it’s a cup of food which is a challenge now lol but I can’t find my diet plan! I know everyone is different

At this point since your so far along, i would just try to give yourself a daily calorie intake you want to hit. then base your meals off of that, and Protein first. If you stay under your calories for the day, regardless of what you eat, you should lose and then maintain the desired weight. I would say 1500 calories a day, but maybe you want to get with a nutritionist and have them reevaluate your BMR.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
