@Maryeuh @aclapp yes! Kinda lol. I did all things necessary to complete requirements at another hospital but stopped w/ them before approval. But the doctors did accept everything! So I had to do nothing over

I've heard of some people doing that but then having to start all over. In fact I'm pretty sure Danielle who is in this chat is doing just that. Right danielleleigh90?
I made a few phone calls Friday and they pretty much all said either I would have to start over completely or by the time all my records got transferred and I met with their teams and the re-submitted to insurance it would prob be the same time frame so ill just stick where I am i guess.

Ugh the waiting game. Yeah I didn't want to feel like a stalker either. So I called once a week. They moved my surgery date to July 14th. Im worried though because I am gaining back my weight. My psych doctor upd my mood stabalizer. So im eating like crazy. I hope they don't cancel the surgery. It would break my heart.

I know it sucks having to wait several months. But it will fly by!! Try not to think about it. Easier said then done. I know. That is very long time to wait. I agree.

Ah! I had an issue similar in Feb. My doc prescribed me mirtazipine for sleep, I gained 15lbs like nothing! My doctors weren’t very understanding but some are. Hopefully yours are! Have you called & let them know about the meds? I think if they know about them you should be okay!

I will call them Monday to explain my situation. My mom got surgery at the same place and gained weight too. They still did the surgery. We will see.

Hi ladies I've read all your comments.. sooo exciting to know we are getting surgeries soon.

I started the process back at the end of april.. but because of covid19 everything was just so slow... now in may and june I've had all my appointments and lab work done.. only thing I'm missing is my final nutrition appointment for preop liquid diet on june the 10th.

I'm in Florida I dont know what your insurances required for me it was.

Pre labs (tsh, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, hemoglobin a1c, pt/inr, aptt, CBC, and CMP and lipid panel, h.pylori breath test)

Upper GI Series

Letter of medical necessity from PCP

Two nutrition appointments.

Mental Health Evaluation

I'm excited to get a surgery date for. I called my weight loss coordinator and she said usually after last appointment (nutritionist) it is tentatively scheduled for 3-4 weeks out.. so I'm looking at the first or second week of july.

Ahhhhhh so exciting

Met with him today, said they are currently scheduled out midway through August but said by the time I get my approval it may be September. there are numerous clinics in the same area does anyone know once I have insurance approval for the surgery, can I go somewhere else that may be able to get me in sooner or is the approval for that facility and ill have to redo all the classes and such if I want to go somewhere else??

you can switch and have your info and completed stuff transferred. insurance will have to resubmit if you're at that stage. I was going through the process and flying to Texas to have my surgery cuz michigan wouldn't reopen. but the day of my final consult my original doctor in michigan called and gave me a date..I already was insurance approved and just waiting. so yes it is possible to switch. it delays a little but if somewhere else is caught up amd scheduling it's worth the phone call and tell them your position.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
