Just got a call from my primary who just now took a minute to look at my blood work, 4 days before surgery and has found that one of my blood workups shows a slight elevation. (this is the test that tests if your blood clots fast or slow, apparently mine is showing it clots a little tiny bit slow) Therefore, he will not give me medical clearence at this time. I have to rush to the doctor this afternoon to get another test taken. So it is not looking all that great for me right now. I may not get to have surgery on December 4th after all. :(

I'm up on Monday - just waiting to hear from the hospital about what time to go in. This is my last day at work before the op so haven't had time to worry about it today - but in the evening I get nervous, excited, scared and wish it was over and I was at home. I get to spend the first night in ICU - I have an enlarged heart so they want to take the precaution and then a second night in a normal room. Still just want this over and the journey to have begun.

I have all my meds in a basket . . . my bedroom is torn apart and I have to get it cleared up so I can do all my bedding and be comfy . . . I'm STARVING TODAY . . . I'll be on just Water and Propel for 3 days afterwards . . .UGHHHHH .. . the lady from the doctor's office told me I won't be able to tolerate the Protein drink I'm using now after surgery . . . how the hell does she know that???? I'm ready for it to be over . . . BUT the grandkids are due any minute .. .that will keep me busy for a couple hours until I can put them down .. . 1 year and 2-1/2 . . . and I just keep moving around and getting nothing accomplished. :)

I got you beat. I go in a few hours, and yes, I am nervous and anxious, but I don't think I am freaking out. I just want it done and to begin to lose weight.

They have highspeed internet on my hospital floor. God I love technology.

One thing I wasn't prepared for is how sore the port wound is. Really causing me some pain. They have me on toredol, but it isn't doing much for the pain.

I hope this part doesn't last too long.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
