Topiramate for weight loss?! I take it for migraines! Is it actually supposed to help with weight loss, because I don't notice a difference...

Edit: I looked it up out of curiosity and they do actually use it for weight loss in addition to using it for migraines... how weird that my doctor didn't mention that when she prescribed it to me two weeks ago lol

I took Topiramate 25mg, twice a day for years. It was prescribed for seizures I had. I can't say that it had any impact on my weight loss.

Metformin is a diabetes medication. It evens out or balances your blood sugar. I've seen cases where it was prescribed for pre-diabetics and they lost weight. Doctors aren't exactly sure how it works in relation to weight loss. They suspect that it acts as a mild appetite suppressant. *My husband takes metformin. Since he started taking it, he has GAINED weight.

Topirimate did NOT work for me at all. Gained on it. But it does work for some. Never took metformin.

Metformin for weight loss? My husband takes that for diabetes. I thought it was weight neutral.

Was given topiramate for binge eating due to medication weight gain, did not have any affect on weight gain. Metformin for type 2 diabetes, had no affect on my weight. Have also been on bupropion for depression and did not notice any weight loss.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
