Update: Revision surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just wanted to give you an update. Yesterday I had my revision surgery to flip my port back over and stitch it back to the muscle. Everything went ok and thankfully the pain is not nearly as bad as it was the first time around. Don't get me wrong...it's still there, but not as bad.

The dr filled me up to 6 cc's and I can really feel it. Just take 1 tbls of my liquid painkiller is giving me problems and trying to come back up. I wonder if I am too tight.

Another update...he put 7cc in total and I WAS too tight. I couldn't keep the liquid painkiller or Water down. I had to go and have 3 cc removed!!! It seems like this will never work for me!

Did they say what might have caused it to flip so soon after surgery? I really thought they stitched them down pretty good,,,on all four sides,,,,,so they wouldn't move. I am 1,1/2 years out and still worry that mine might flip over. Ever since I had my Tummy Tuck it feels like it is laying different in my abdominal wall, maybe because they pulled the skin downward from around it,,,, just wondering.....Mizboo

My surgeon suspects that it was because he used dissolvable sutures. He used to use regular but recently switched to dissolvable bc he read somewhere that it was the new best practive. However, since he switched to dissolvable, I am the 2nd one to flip. so, he said he was going back to regular sutures from now on.

Hi Tulip,

I was banded by Dr. Marsden on Oct 19th. Now I'm all freaked out about my port flipping.. YIKES!

I guess time will tell, huh? I wonder if he used the dissolvable stitches on me, or if he used regular. Any idea when he switched?

I'm glad the revision surgery went well - hopefully you'll be up and around in no time!

Best of luck to you.

Robin,

I can tell you that I had my appt. with Marsden on Nov 15 and that's when he told me that he was going to stop using dissolvable sutures. You should be fine...it was just a fluke and I am unlucky :P

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
