I have almost finished week two post op and am on pureed foods, so no temptations there. I am in state govt mandatory quarantine until Saturday midnight, as I wasn't able to return home before the date set (thankfully I made it home when I did, arrivals into my state now have to go into govt quarantine at designated hotels). I am not allowed to go anywhere or have any visitors. So I have been keeping myself busy cleaning out cupboards, catching up on reading, shows, etc. I have been walking loops around the house and if I have had a particularly lazy day do some slow walking on the treadmill. Won't be long before I can walk at my usual speed.

Mental health wise, been having lots of chats with family and friends.

What about yourself?

I have found the opposite. I'm able to have a much more structured eating plan when I'm at home, more so than at work. I can eat when I need to and I always have the right foods available at home. At work, my eating schedule is erratic, and I will admit that I occasionally grab things on the run that I really shouldn't be eating. I've actually lost a few pounds since isolation began.

tracking all my food to make sure I'm OK calorie-wise and getting some exercise every day - even if it's just walking outside (staying at least six feet away from others, of course...)

I’m enjoying the honeymoon phase where I’m not hungry. 4 weeks post op and I love it!!!
I’ll eat as less as I can as long as I can, that’s fine with me honey. Protein Shakes it is!

This is exactly what I am trying to avoid happening before I even reach my goal!! I have been purposely trying to eat less and go outside for a few minutes of exercise daily.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
