How long do we need to ingest 60 oz. fluid?

Recommended Posts

I'm a little fuzzy on how long we need to ingest 60 oz of water/fluid daily post surgery. Can someone enlighten me please?

its a life sentence, However it may not be 60 You can do a hydration test and back it down a little. For example I only drink 48-50 oz now a day and I am fine and hydrated. But this is a long way out Many months.

Also if you hate Water as much as I do, eat a Soup for lunch every day it has water, Suck on a popsickle lots of water in that, offsets the drinking it a little

yes - for life. Although even non-WLS people should be doing that, too. A lot of health people recommend eight cups of Fluid a day - so that's 64 oz.

FOREVER... for me, I start retaining Water and will gain a few pounds if I don't get in at least 65oz a day but I function best drinking more than 85oz and will lose that water weight taking in 100oz. But I count my Protein Drink, coffee, tea and water. If I have a glass of wine, I count that too but it is a small price to pay for feeling so good.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
