Oh honey, lack of Protein is definitely going to affect your body and your mind. Have you talked to your surgeon about not being able to keep down the shakes? I’ve been using this Bone Broth and it’s really good and it’s 10 grams of protein per 8 ounces.

smoothie science is not easy Try core fitness these seem to be the best tasting I have found - But really get away from the store bought and make your own - Become a mix master of Protein Shakes - You got a long road and doing it yourself is much better and tastes better

None of you are hungry! You are addicted to food like everyone else on this site! You are bored and you head is playing games with you. You do not need to eat and consume non stop.

It doesn't matter in the end if what people feel is "real physical hunger" or not. People want to eat for whatever reason and they want real food to chew on instead of Liquid Protein concoctions no one would down who isn't forced to do so. On this kind of diet one doesn't need to be a "food addict" to get severe cravings. Put people without food problems on a meal plan like the WLS immediate post-op one and you're going to see some interesting phenomena that are quite similar. People think about food all the time.

Don't believe it? Take a look at the Minnesota starvation study. It's an interesting read.

In sum, this **** is real, not being able to eat definitely does have negative side effects (even though we want to deny it) and it might be some hard days but what usually helps is to know that it'll pass. Things will change the moment one is back to normal food for a few days.

THANK YOU! ♥️ I’m honestly doing much better. I’ve balanced my diet to include as much Protein as I can handle and the hunger isn’t my constant companion anymore 😂

NO NO NO-

None of you are hungry! You are addicted to food like everyone else on this site! You are bored and you head is playing games with you. You do not need to eat and consume non stop.

We all had to get thru this phase! You are in the head game stage and you are not hungry! You head is tricking you to think you are hungry. Your nerves and sensors were cut out. So how the heck are you getting hunger pains when you only have a 4 oz pouch. Tv marketing and packaging is everywhere. There are so much more things in life then a box of Cookies or chips. However all of us addicts are caught in the food industry nightmare@

What? They cut out PART of our stomach, not the whole thing. We still have nerves and sensors in our stomach.

We also still have other nerves and sensors in the rest of our body that are sensitive to nutrient levels. Your rapid post-op fat loss is going to cause a rapid drop in leptin levels, because leptin is made by fat cells. Leptin normally makes you feel full - dropping levels make you feel hungry. Also, your muscle cells are sensitive to insulin, Protein, and glucose levels.

There are multiple mechanisms that control hunger in the body - bariatric surgery affects only the gherlin pathway because gherlin is made by the stomach.

There's no way a person can be eating only a few hundred calories a day after bariatric surgery, but the "hunger is all in their head."

I don’t wanna seem weak or greedy but I’m so hungry and I’m only 9 days out of surgery!! I’m tired of Clear Liquids. I honestly feel like I’m losing my mind. I know it’s90% in my head but this food addict is dying for a fix😞😞😞😞

Me too. I’m thinking it will be different once I return to solid foods.

Oh I know, I’m in the same boat! Literally! Crystal light is more flavorful too! Try the cream of Soups just blend so no bits, you should get some satisfaction from it. Just make sure to only have about a half cupful. Too much more than that at one time makes me feel nauseous and weird. Good Luck! Btw is you belly still hurting ? And incisions itching? Mine is.

Just 5 days out and the abdominal pain on right side is annoying as hell. I can’t get a good night’s sleep because I cannot sleep on my sides and it’s hard sleeping on my back due to back issues. Ugh....

Give it a few days though once you're on solids for the cravings to calm down.

Try Isopure Protein mixes they are smoother and offer more flavors.

i made a good one with chocolate protein, unsweetened applesauce and a small scoop of Peanut Butter, a couple slices of banana and coconut almond milk. You can make it as thin as you want. It was delicious and curbed my nausea.

Just like AJ Tylo, I had to change focus. I added a Siberian Husky to my life that makes sure I do not focus on food! Also try this.....make a life statement that you truly are committed to and use all of your free time to focus on that. “I am a _________” Fill in the blank with something meaningful and pursue it. Could be artist-I started advanced art classes, could be diva- start your post surgery make over, could be healthcare professional-I go in tomorrow for seventy hours in seven days.
Take this virus seriously and it won’t take you and your loved ones. Follow the CDC guidelines and we will make it through this and end up with a vaccine in a year or so. Yes I know it is dangerous, I just lost a dear relative in another state. We are Americans not whimps, this is the greatest country in the world full of the greatest people in the world. Walk every day, wave hello to friends and family from a distance and really talk using your phones.
Remember this too shall pass. Love you all! I feel healthier now that there is 133 pounds less of me, you can do it too!

I’m new to the bypass but not to Bariatric surgery as I had a sleeve in 2013. I would like to reiterate. You are not really hungry. Neither am I and I have to keep reminding myself of that 2 weeks out. It’s head hunger. You’re used to it and there is food everywhere on TV. Try to do something else. TV is the worst. Literally everything is about food. Go for a walk or get on the treadmill or the elliptical or just something. I’ve been coloring in my swirlie coloring book. It keeps me occupied. Just do something else. It’s a really hard habit to break because most of us have eaten for boredom or comfort our whole lives but that time is done now. You’ve got this! Just do something else to get your mind off of it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
