I'm not feeling great, the gas pain and trying to get comfortable is a mess. Mix in the nausea and vomiting, I will see how I feel by Saturday. I have to believe that this is just a few bumps in my road to recovery. Only drank 13 ozs yesterday, I'm going to aim higher today. I'm up and walking also, but I need some sleep as well.

Hi there,

Had my RNY on 3/4. I am home now, doing well. My only concern currently is I have pain in my lower abdominal area when I am up moving around. I would say it's about four inches to the left of my belly button...

I know I just had major surgery so some pain is expected, but this pain is hindering me from moving as much as I would like to.

Anyone else experience this? If so, for how long?

Thank you for your help!

Had my bypass on March 2nd. Still having pain and I never feel hungry which makes it hard for me to remember my Protein Shakes. Also struggling to meet the 64 fl oz goal, but as long as my urine is pale and I’m not dizzy I’m not too worried.

I had my RNY on 3 March. I have little pain and can meet my water/protein goals just fine. My problem is I haven't moved my bowels yet and I'm beginning to worry. I'm taking Docusate and Miralax. How long does it normally take before the first poo after surgery?

My doc told me it will probably take a week before you have a BM because you aren't eating anything...

Kristyle, thank you! I’m sure it seems like a no brainer and I know you’re right but I’m obsessing about it for some reason.

I'm not meeting the 64 ozs of hydration goals. I'm halfway there, but I'm getting closer to my Protein goals daily. Today, I'm extremely fatigued and feeling kind of lightheaded. Working on increasing the Water intake daily, I'm just too full to keep drinking. I've pooped, thankfully. The Prilosec and bariatric Vitamins are not that great, but I'm getting it down. Tomorrow if it isn't raining I will go for a walk. I'm tired of liquids, everything on TV shows food. I don't want the foods, it's the point that I'm restricted and that makes everything look good. Earlier this morning, I really wanted a pancake and a piece of Turkey bacon. I had a vanilla Premier shake and moved on. Tomorrow I'm going to get a better schedule for consuming the required fluids and nutrients timely. I'm also going to allow myself to get some sleep. I'm down from 242 to 236, since surgery day. Pajamas are my uniform, my stomach is still bloated and these incisions are itching like CRAZY!!!! Yes, I'm healing and I know these things will be distant memories soon. My new stomach is going to get a name, just haven't given her one yet. She talks, grumbles and rolls to beat of her own drum already and she's a Pisces, born on March 3rd, 3020...lmaooooo.

I had my surgery on 3/2, it took me 4 days after surgery to start. Be sure to walk besides drinking your fluids it helps gets things going.

Had a complicated RNY on March 3rd. Doctor repaired multiple hernias, abrasions, and scar tissue as well as had to remove part of my stomach. Pain is pretty isolated to my packed wound (from where he removed my stomach). Looking forward to having a community that has gone through this at the same time.

@krimsonbutterflies I hope you’re feeling better and I love the thought of naming my new tummy lolol! She is quite a talker! I’m day 6 now and was very tired today and I was really hungry today but of course I had a Protein Shake and kept it moving or laying actually. I’m up moving around as much as possible but today was def a down day.
@patsfandiane I hope you’re healing well too!
@Less2Kerri great job on the walking!
@Tamarita I hope you feel better soon too
@skyewolfe I actually felt hungry for the first time today like really hungry. I can’t wait to chew on something again
@kristyle I have that pain about 4 inches to right of my belly button but for me it’s an incision I’m pretty sure cause it’s right near it. My incisions have been super itchy today so I think that means they are healing!
@biginjapan I wish I knew how to respond to people individually like you. I still can’t figure out quite how to use this forum but getting there. Hope you’re feeling well!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
