2 weeks today

Recommended Posts

WOHOOOO I have passed the 2 week mark, :) I saw my surgeon today and he said I am progressing along nicely. I can now move onto Pureed/Mushies!!!! I am so excited to not have to be on a liqued only diet. 4 weeks of only liqueds was getting old.

I am scheduled for my first fill on Jan 08th, 2008.

I can't imagine having to eat mushies for 2 weeks. My doctor allowed regular food after the 4th day. Glad to hear all went well at your doctor's visit. :)

Wow lucky you two only having liquids for less than 2 weeks. I'm on liquids for 4 weeks!!! Oh well, I guess it will help me to lose a lot of weight...I hope!

I was on 2 weeks liqueis pre-op , then 2 weeks after. He told me today I can move to muchies, BUT if I feel any pain or problems, to go back to liquids.

It is so interesting how different the Dr's diets are. I did low-carb before surgery, liquids for 2 days after surgery and then mushies for 4 weeks. Mushies include baked fish and cooked veggies and anything the consistency of baby food. Then I will be on regular food.

:help: Hi all,

I have been banned now for three weeks, I lost 25lbs. This is the first time I lost 10 to 15lbs on any diet except when I was on Fen Fen. This was the best decision I ever made, I am not hungry, and I have to plan time to eat. However, since going back to work this week I feel that I am eating too much. I teach in an urban school, which has a high violence rate, lacks leadership and is very stressful. I am not hungry, but food for me has always been the one thing I can count on; its my best friend, something to turn to when I am lonely, happy, sad, bored you name it. My concern is with the stress of work, I think I am eating too much. Here is what my day look like.

I leave my house at 6:30 am; before I leave I have a cup of Decaf herbal tea (8oz) at 6:15 am. I start teaching at 7:45, so around 8:30am I have a plain yogurt (4oz, 8g of protein) or a jar baby food rice Cereal w pear (6oz, 1 g of protein). I drink 35g of Protein supplement about 11oz in an hour from10: 00 am to 11:00 am. At 12 pm I eat 3 oz of puree chicken or fish with ¼ cup of puree veggies. At 2:00pm I eat a 4oz single serve of cottage cheese (4oz 11g protein) at 3: 00pm I eat 1 oz low fat cheese 8g of Protein. In between meals I also consume 28 oz of crystal light beverage and 20oz of Water.

I pick up my son from school, go home and fix him diner. While doing so, I fight with myself not to taste or eat what I cook him; this week however, I have nibble once or twice. :cry Please help me. I don’t want to go back to my old habit of eating all night long, or eating just for the sake of eating. Maybe I need to join a food addict group? How can I stop my love hate relationship with food?

Marie,

It sounds like you are doing GREAT!!! Just take it one day at a time and keep the goal in sight. If we knew the magic secret to turn off the cravings and change our relationships with food, none of us would be in the shape we are in now. Maybe you need to distract yourself when you feel the need to eat (when you are not supposed to)? Maybe you could tell yourself you could have a little snack, but first you have to drink a glass of Water and then wait 30 minutes. It's likely you would forget all about the urge by then. Who knows. It's not easy, but (with your band and the right attitude) you can do it.

Shalee,

We have the same band date. I had one week of full liquids and then 4 weeks of purees. I see my surgeon (in a different town) and get my fill on January 2. I hope he doesn't have a hangover. :))

Lumpy: You need to click on UserCP at the top of the page and then on "Edit Signature" and paste the code for your ticker in the signature box and save. You can also preview it first by clicking on the button beneath the box.

Hi Lumpy,

I lost 15 pounds pre-surgery, and the other 10 since surgery on the 12th.

Pre-surgery I was taking my 2 big dogs for a long hard walk 5 times a week, they pretty much go at this super fast pace and if I don't keep up they drag me, :eek:and we walked about 5 miles a day. I was also riding my exercise bike 8 miles a day on level 3 , 19mph about 4 times a week pre-surgery.

Since surgery I haven't taken the big dogs walking yet, just my little chiuwahua and we walk maybe 2 miles at a brisk pace. I just started back this week riding my bike and I am doing 6 miles level 3 ,15 mph

a night right now.

I am scheduled for a fill on Jan 8th, But I might call and see if he can do it sooner.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
