HELP! Unbearable gas pain in upper abdomen 😩

Recommended Posts

If you’d had the gastric sleeve, what did you do to help with gas pain?! What worked for you? Or what have you heard/read about that worked for other people? (Besides walking of course)

I had the rouen-y and my first day was so painful. The only thing to ease the pain was morphine. After that the suggestion to walk around should be embedded in your brain. That will help move the gas and jumpstart your digestive system. FYI- I also had to learn to let the gas go, as embarrassing as that may be. More room out than in!

I am almost 4 week post gastric sleeve. I had the worst gas pain all around my big incision, and had not gone to the bathroom for 6 days post surgery. I purchase Myralax, taking that along with Gas-X, and the next day I started to "go" and the gas pains subsided.

I don't know about you but I was advised not to take any gas relievers. My surgery was in Dec. and even now I still have gas, not painful though. Walking did do wonders for me! I pray your journey and your recovery continue to progress very well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
