Help! Before I gain it all back...

Recommended Posts

Really, I don't know how much help I need versus just needing someone, anyone who knows what I'm going through to listen to me vent.

I guess you can say I was in the lower "High weight" class starting this journey at 231lbs, at one point I was all the way up to 246 and at only 5'2... not good.

I was sleeved on October 19, 2017 so I am just over the 2 year mark. The lowest weight I seen was 136. I sat at 138-142 for over a year (Doing awesome at maintenance). But then life happened my husband and I moved Across country for work, only to move back to the state we left 5 months later due to my youngest daughter being diagnosed with a rare bone disease that causes her to grow bone tumors all over her body! she is only 4 so you can imagine the dread I felt/feel. I let my control slip slowly , now 9 months later I find my self 15 pounds heavier and struggling to get my **** together. I started back at the gym a month ago and that is going great, but I'm back to old eating habits even if I am unable to eat much, what I've been eating is a definite no-no. I know the basics, I know what I need to do, its getting back in the right head space that I am finding difficult.

I guess that is where someone else would come in... What have you done to get back on track? What motivates you? How do you get rid of negative thoughts after starting to gain again?

I just want to get back on the losers bench and get back to where I was...

First off, breathe and welcome.

You're in the right place! BP is an awesome support tool. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter! ((hugs)) I have no words for that but I will pray for y'all!!

15lbs is very do-able!!! But you're right. The headwork is the hardest and most important part of the equation!! Come join us in this thread! You should read it from start to finish! It's good material for the mind! And might help you refocus on losing the regain!

Hi! How's your daughter doing?

(I know I wouldn't really be focused on weight either if one of my babies were ill 😔)

The help you may need may come in the form of a support group that addresses those concerns so you can work through the tough stuff with other people going through the same thing. With that burden lifted you may have enough space to refocus on yourself.

Good Luck and hoping for a complete remission for your daughter 💚

Sounds like you have had alot going on. But it sounds to me like you are on the right track, coming and posting and trying to get your head back in the game. I'm only 5 months out and feel like I have allowed a few things into my diet that are better not included....lol it causes me cravings and I hate it.

I recently joined a group called PNP Tribe hosted by Corrine Crabtree. It really helps with tracking and documenting so you can see what when where and why..... its really great for learning about emotional eating habits, and....she offers really great podcasts.i highly recomend it. I Joined the paid membership. But if you google "Losing 100 lbs with corrine crabtree. She offers shorter free podcasts.

I hope this helps and you find your way back to where you want to be.

I am so very sorry to hear about your daughter. I can definitely relate to what you went through.

I lost my 59 yo middle sister just a few months before my sleeve surgery. Dr suggested holding off but I chose to move forward. I did well for about 6 months when we made a big move. Shortly after our move, I had to go and stat with my mom as she was put under home hospice care. Last thing I cared about was my eating or my weight as I went through all of this. I had lost 73 pounds during my first six months but it stopped there. I gained back about 15 pounds over the next year.

I really struggled trying to get back on track. About 6 months ago I developed gerd and found out that I had a large hiatal hernia. I ended up needing to revise to a bypass.

I am now 7 weeks out and am determined to stay on track. I must find alternative ways to deal with things in life other than emotional eating to be successful and remain that way.

I posted to offer my support and also to let you know that you are not alone.

My heart goes out to you and your family. Seeing any child let alone your own child suffering is heart breaking. No wonder you fell back on old habits. It was your comfort zone for years.

Don't beat yourself up about this. We all fight this battle every day. We all trip or slip. As @FluffyChix said losing 15lbs is doable & yes follow her doing the head work thread: lots of advice & support. This whole forum is so useful, full of wisdom & supportive.

Your daughter will be your first priority but put yourself second for a while. It will help maintain your resilience & reinvigorate the inner strength you need for you & your daughter.

Go back to those basics and take it one day at a time.

Blessings.

Thank you everyone for the kind words! I appreciate it so very much.

Fluffychix- Thank you there is some awesome material, definitely looking at certain things in a new perspective.

Greentealael- My daughter is doing well mostly, One of her bone tumors located on her ankle is causing her discomfort when she walks, so we have an appointment tomorrow to discuss its removal. There is no medicine that helps, so surgical removal is the only option, I just pray that she will not require many. Most of the bone tumors she has are in areas that cause no issues to her so that is a blessing.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
