Dr. Is Always Booked-up

Recommended Posts

:confused:My dr. only do refills on Mondays, and some Mondays he is on call. I really hate this. I need a fill today and can't get one because he is booked -up and next monday he is on call and "might" be able to see me next monday! I did pretty good over the thanksgiving holiday and I only feel I need a fill because I only have a little trouble eating meat, anything else I can eat "alot" of. But most of the people "I feel" only are calling because they are feeling a little guilty about thanksgiving. But my thing is what good is it to call the dr. for fills when we think we need one and when we call we have to end up scheduling something a week or two away. I guess you could tell that I am a little angry with my dr. I just think my dr. should be more availble to his patients. And now I have to tough it out for another week or two. I hope I can do it!!

It takes me more than three weeks to schedule a fill, and my doctor's office does fills five days a week.

This Is A Very Small Town, And I'm Sure He Is Busy, But My Situation Is A Little Differt Then Others, Because It Has Been 2 1/2 Mths And I Have Lost Only 10lbs Following His Orders, So I Am Getting A Little Fustrated About All Of This. I Talk To His Other Patients While In His Office And No One Thus For Have Lost Less Than 10lbs In 2 1/2 Months. I Think In Some Cases The Dr. Has To Bend A Little , Ecspeacially When You Pay (self Pay) All That Money.

I understand your frustration.

You have lost an average of one pound per week, and that is within the normal weight loss range for a Lap-Band patient, congratulations!

The normal range of weight loss with a Lap-Band is one to two pounds per week. Any weight loss that is over 2 pounds per week is outside of the normal range.

My doctor does fills on a set schedule--he follows a standard fill protocol that is carefully laid out ahead of time (usually at 4-6 week intervals). His office is very busy as well. The only time I could see myself demanding an immediate appointment would be if some type of serious complication developed.

I just scheduled my next fill, and guess what - they cannot get me in until JANUARY! That is the very soonest they can get me in, January 18th. GRRRRR. I'm looking at almost 2 months!

I Think That's Great That Your Dr. Gives Set Appt. Before You Leave The Office, I Thank That Is The Way It Should Be Done. If You Feel Like You Don't Need A Fill The You Could Cancel. But At Lease You Have An Appt. Already!

I understand you're impatient, but what you're describing really isn't outside of the norm. Few people can call on Monday and get a fill on Monday. My surgeon has three people who can do fills. They triple-book (last I asked, they may now quadruple) appointments, and do fills 5 days a week, and on a good day you could call Monday and get in the following Monday.

I know it can be frustrating, but it is understandable. A surgeon is a surgeon. Fills are a small part of what they do, and have to come after surgeries, emergencies, etc.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
