Welcome, Gina! And best wishes for your upcoming surgery! One thing a few of us have noticed is that day 3 post-op has been the worst, and that it gets better from there. So keep your chin up and remember that it is all worth it!

Hi everyone! I'm a new member and my gastric sleeve surgery is scheduled for 2/18. I'm excited and terrified all at once! There is the physical aspect but this whole experience has been a real mind shift. I was just telling my husband that I am aware of how much of a complainer I am being. The liquid diet has been tough on me. I started keto/IF on 12/28 and was losing weight before it. Now this feels like torture but I know it's preparing me for what is to come, in two days, I will be in a whole other phase...looking forward to learning and experiencing this with you all.
Welcome & good luck! I'm 2/20, struggling through the PreOp diet myself. We'll get through it!!!!

Welcome! On pre-op diet as well. I’m scheduled for the 19th so I’ll be following you. I made some white chili for my family last night (I make a pretty mean white chili) and I had to walk away when it was done. It smelled so good and I was feeling all kinds of sorry for myself but I told myself that I made this decision when I was in my right mind lol and I will stay strong!

We’ve got this!!

Its starting to get real. I'm on the 26th. I just let my boss know I was going to be out for about 2 weeks. Is that enough time? I have a desk job.

I had been doing Keto and IF and that felt so much easier. It's hard because I have young children and a husband with a super fast metabolism so I'm the only one carrying extra weight in the house. They can eat whatever, whenever and I'm in the corner with my Jello, lol. Thank you for the encouragement and best wishes for the 19th!

I’m 6 days out of my mgb and food has been playing mind games with me. I don’t really feel hungry, but making meals for my family (I have 4 kids and a hubby) and not being able to even taste it to check the seasoning, etc. is hard. My head is screaming at me for food, but my stomach says “no ma’am”. I don’t really feel hungry, but at the same time my body feels starved for nutrition, despite getting in enough fluids and all my Vitamins.< br />

On a positive note, I ate my first real “food” this morning - some heavily watered down Greek yogurt with a half scoop of unflavoured Protein Powder. It was about 1/2 cup and took an hour to eat, but I got it down alright. I have noticed, however, that I’m not getting that full stomach feeling until it’s over full. This is probably because it’s still swollen and healing.

How is everyone else doing?

Hey ResaRoo. I feel you about having to cook for the family and not being able to even taste. I’m on Clear Liquids til this week and think I’m ready for more!! But staying strong. I agree it’s like I know I’d like to eat but I’m not really hungry. How does the overfull feeling feel?

I've been freezing about a cup of Protein Shake and having that as "ice cream". The Premier caramel is really, really sweet so I can only tolerate about a cup; I have also frozen Iconic chocolate Truffle, and Premier Bananas and Cream. Also, I've been heating the chocolate Truffle as hot chocolate, and to get a bit more Protein added 2 oz of the Premier Caramel. It's no Snickers bar, but it is definitely sweet!

That all sounds soooo good !!

I have a desk job as well. I’m scheduled for the 21st and I put in for 2 weeks off. I asked my friend who had the sleeve done a couple years ago and he said 2 weeks should be fine for a desk job.

I had a mini gastric bypass and after the surgery I was told I needed to take 2 weeks off. I thought I’d be fine after 1, but now I get it. Having extra time to heal and build back some energy is very important.

@fiddles - just a very heavy, uncomfortable feeling. It’s like I can feel food sitting in my esophagus. When I first started on liquids earlier in the week, I could tell right away when I had enough Water. But with the liquidy yogurt, it’s been harder for me to tell right away.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
