Steamed Chicken

Recommended Posts

Question for everyone. A lot of times I am on the road for hours working. My question is that in times when I do not have a chance to go home and have a meal would steamed chicken be ok from a Chinese restaurant? I know of course no sauce but wonder what everyone’s option is on this. Would imagine it would be ok but just curious.

as long as you've been cleared for solid foods and as long as you can tolerate chicken, yes. Some people have a hard time with chicken the first few weeks or months.

Yep. Make sure they don't "velvet" it with a slurry of cornstarch. But steamed fish, chicken, shrimp were my go-tos in the early days at restaurants!!

Just checking, but according to your side profile you were sleeved 10 days ago? Has your team cleared you for solid foods?

P.S. At 10 days post op I was just carrying around Protein Powder and a shaker bottle in my purse...

try the egg drop Soup first. If I was just starting on solid Proteins, and had to eat steamed chicken from a Chinese take out, I would get the egg drop soup to moisten each bite really well. But be sure you are cleared for chicken first.

Once you are on solids it might be fine BUT like others have said try it at home first. I remember reading here about people struggling with chicken and I was like 'ooh weird, I won't though'.

You guessed it the first time I had chicken breast it got stuck, 2nd time it got stuck and that was chewing it to nothing with gravy so I then decided to try thigh meat instead and it was fine.

Always try new foods at home first tho coz you don't want to be ill when you are out working :)

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
