Not so easy to make friends here...

Recommended Posts

Hell errrrbody!
When I was banded in 2009 I was on this platform daily and making some pretty awesome friends, pretty fast. LOL
It seems this time around I'm a lonely painter living in a box of paints. (bonus points for who knows where I got that from?)
I am active, been chatting and looking and responding but it seems pretty quiet for me.
Maybe it's just me but I sure do like talking to folk about their experiences, fears, achievements, disappointments, etc.

Well, Hi! I'm not sure if I've seen any of your posts, but I'm sorry you feel it is difficult to make friends on here! If you write posts with questions you're likely to get a lot of responses. For the most part people are super helpful. I agree with another poster that people tend to post a lot before surgery. I'm 8 months post gastric bypass and whole I still post, it is not as frequent as before or right after surgery. I wouldn't say I've made any friends, but there is a core group of regular posters which are always willing to share and offer advice. Keep on posting!!

@vsgdavid thank you! How’s your journey been

In a word?

Consistent

I've had stalls, some as long as 3-4 weeks, but it always flips back around to going the right way!

Hi! Getting sleeved November 20 in NJ. Been on liquids since Nov. 7 and really looking forward to the procedure. I'm already seeing changes in my relationship with food....the rest of my family (3 teens and a hubby) can chow down on regular foods right in front of me and I'm not that bothered, because I'm keeping my eye on the prize.

I have arthritic hips (sports when young, 3 pregnancies and obesity) and I'm hoping the weight loss will delay the need for a double hip replacement!

I just joined recently (sleeved October 18th) but I noticed the same. I've gotten some replies on my posts but it's been quiet and since I just had my sleeve I'm just full of stuff I want to talk about.

I am 4 Weeks post op. Just started on full modified foods. So far everything has been going pretty good. In a stall currently down 21lbs beginning to learn my new normal. I had a really bad time with anesthesia and was kept in the hospital an additional day. I was suprised to still be hungry. They say that should pass once more solid food is introduced.

How are you feeling!

What's been the toughest part so far

I've got my Dietitian and Mental Health appointment this Monday. (Nov 18)

I am so excited.

It's like visiting old friends. It's the same people I worked with when I was banded in 2009.

People tend to post a TON before surgery, a little bit after surgery, and then very rarely after that. It's just the nature of how this works I think. Good luck on your surgery!!

I'm 13 months out and post here almost daily. It helps me keep an eye on the big picture. Also, I don't really like the support group run by my hospital.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
