Results with a 35ish BMI

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Tomorrow I’ll be two weeks post op VSG and here are my results so far

Height: 5’6”
7/3/19 HW. 228
Pre Op 2 wk diet 222
10/15/19 SW. 207
10/28/19 197

So I think I am doing pretty well considering I had a 35ish BMI to start and today my BMI comes up as 31.8. Loss since 1st appointment/HW is 31. Loss since 10/1 pre-op is 25.

I also had a band for 5 years and had it removed over a year ago. I hear that could have an impact on loss but I don’t see how being that I had no band restriction for years and never maintained any weigh loss.

Anyone else with experience like mine? Did you lose consistently or slower than most. I think I am losing at a rate of what is typical right now. I’m happy but curious about the future. Does it slow a lot more when the purées and then solids start?

Thanks for reading.

Seems like you are on course I have not lost consistently -

I really feel you should not do the weigh thing daily - I weigh myself each Sunday once a week and shoot for 4 pounds a week = 208 pounds in a year! The main reason I am doing that is to not look like a shrinky dink with the skin and also I have been told it is easier

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
