Today is my day 2. Surgery was 10/23/19. I came home from the hospital yesterday and I am in sooooo much pain. I have been drinking Water but thats it. I tried to drink a pre-made premier shake and couldn't keep it down. I also tried to drink a Vitamin water and could not keep it down. I'm not able to sit up. I can only lay prompt up on pillows. I am taking my Vitamins as I write this...so far so good. How long will this pain last. I haven't passed gas yet but I keep beeping alot. Any thoughts

Good morning!

May I suggest getting up every hour and just walking around the house for a few minutes. This helps to pass the gas and will help you with the pain as well. I wasn't good at doing this and my pain lasted three weeks. As far as getting the Water and Protein down, just take sips, and then wait and then repeat. I have been using a marked water bottle that really helps get my water in. If you continue to have trouble keeping anything down I would contact your surgeons office and let them know. They may have you go in for a swallow test, or something.

Best of luck on your journey!

The pain was AWFUL for me from the moment I woke up till around 24-28 hours. Then we finally got the right painkillers & it was totally manageable. Was your pain under control when they discharged you?

Vitamins- I really don't think you need to stress yourself over that the first few days. Just work on staying hydrated & walking laps around your house.

Day 3 for me
I think for me I'm trying to distinguish between actual pain or gas pain. I pulled myself up out of bed and I have been walking. I'm still in pain but I am trying to walk more. I have slowed down on the meds. If I take all the meds they make me sleep, so I decided today not to take the scheduled amount. So I am sitting in the living room today trying to drink Water, walk, and not focusing on the pain. Lets see I took all my Vitamins this morning with no problem. Oh yeah, I'm still only about to keep down water.

Probably day 5 for me that I no longer felt any type of pain. I forced myself to walk a mile a every day. I'm sorry you're having a hard time drinking. Everyone's different. I'd definitely call your dr and let him know before you get too dehydrated.

Day 4

So it has now been 4 days since my surgery and I am so much BETTER. I was able to take my Vitamins early with no problem. Actually I can't wait to get off of them and switch to anorher brand because they are so sweet. Anyways I ventured out to Walmart and ended up feeling nausea....not sure why. I continued to walk and sip anyway. I have got to get rid of this gas. But guess what I discovered.....i am getting my recommended does of Water in. So I am happy about that. Protein is another story. Last night I mixed my water with the Premier Protein shake and I seem to tolerate the shake better. So I will do that from now on. Let me tell you all what helped with my nausea....at least I felt like it did..... HOMEMADE chicken broth. Oh my God is was so delicious. I had to remember to go slow but it so sooooo good. So I purchased the plastic container bowl's to store it for my daily lunch/meal. How are you all doing???

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
