Can't stop losing weight

Recommended Posts

I had my gastric bypass surgery on June the 21st 2018. My starting weight was 229 pounds and my current weight is 115 pounds. I never Intended to Lose this much weight.

I'm not sure on how to make the weight loss stop. I'm am eating more calories and am trying to eat as much as I can. Are there any suggestions on how I can gain any weight? Or at least make this weight loss stop? I can't afford to lose any more.

Thanks so much!!

All meats, potatoes, all veggies.

Fruits, breads, and bow some sweets. Can't handle many sweets and don't do fried foods well.

Have you called your dietician? What is on your maintenance food plan? How many calories are you currently getting in?

You’re not alone having difficulty in changing over to maintenance and figuring out what calories/macros slow stop weight loss. The link below may help.

The maintenance thread.

I have just run your numbers through a BMI calc ( yes I know some people hate them) and according to that your BMI is 21.1 which is still well within the healthy range. Therefore I wouldn’t stress too much at this point.

I would suggest adding back in healthy fats. Things likes nuts, seeds and avocados. Also use higher fat versions of dairy.

I often think that people worry that they are too skinny when they are in fact healthy because these days we are more used to seeing overweight people .

This is true. I checked also. Thing is i am so small. I have no boobs left! I have had to buy new cloths time after time and yes i do shop at Goodwill and consignment shops to save money.

People see me and ask me if I am sick even though I don't think I look sick at all.

I have had bloodwork done and all is well.

My sugar has been known to drop out of nowhere though.

Maybe i am worrying for nothing but I really don't wanna lose a pond more.

BTW I am in the same sort of position as you but I figure it will stop at some point. My loss is very slow now, a couple of 100grams every month or so. The fear is that if I add in too much food I will start regaining which I don't really want to do.

Embrace your new skinny body :) of course it will be a shock to some ppl who are used to seeing you overweight...

There's always compromise in life so you're healthy and skinny but you've lost some curves...

I'm also struggling a bit with this. I have added healthy carbs, more nuts and seeds, but I can't tolerate higher fat levels. I already know I am not absorbing fats well, from the nature of my stools, and any more just causes upset. I am doing a bit more Protein Shakes, but am eating beyond comfort, which I do not like at all.

I am the same. My stomach is very finicky. I thought about adding extra Protein Shakes. It seems when I try to eat more I tend to get so tired. It seems to drain my energy if that makes sense.

I don't mean to seem like I'm complaining. I never want to go back to my old unhealthy self. Just don't want to be too skinny.

Lol.....at one time I would never imagine myself saying such things🤪

Give your body time to correct itself. Losing 112 pounds sounds about right to me. Rejoice.

I've lost over 130 pounds since June of 2018. We all lose at different rates. I still suffer from body dysphoria, though. Still see a fat person. Still shop for a fat person. Still wear large, baggy dresses that a fat person might wear. How about you?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
