Oops, ate too much

Recommended Posts

Well, that was a very unpleasant experience. Of course, I had read it wasn't pleasant by any means but stupidly wasn't eating 'mindfully' and was chatting to my husband while I ate and had one meatball too many (they were tiny teaspoon-sized super soft chicken meatballs).

Anyway, I paid the price quite quickly and am absolutely hating this new way of vomiting. WHY is it just bile, dear god it is revolting!

I didn't get pain so much as just the feeling that something was a bit stuck.

So, lesson learnt, MINDFUL EATING IS A MUST lol

Sorry to hear that Bastian!! That feeling is the worst type of aversive therapy!!!![emoji28][emoji28][emoji28] You never want to experience it ever again and learn REALLY quickly! That's about the only POSITIVE of having had the Lapband!! More horrible and frequent "stuck" incidents! Now since my sleeve, I've not experienced it once because my psyche has automatically learned to mindfully eat (not by my will but by the force of the incidents[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]).
It gets better and easier as our minds pay attention to cues!🧡🧡🧡

Absolutely gross aversion therapy, best kind I guess?!

Funny thing is I thought perhaps I had no pouch at all because I hadn't had any issues lol AND not really sure of my anatomy now due to having a sleeve first which went 'wrong' then an emergency bypass a few days later.

My surgeon only leaves a 1cm wide sleeve which is pretty minuscule, so I was like erm how on earth did he make a pouch with what was left?

Well, I now know there is definitely some kind of pouchiness going on after meatball-gate LOL

I spent yesterday pretty uncomfortable all day so not sure if I aggravated my 'pouch' and made it swell a bit from the vomiting, but nothing went down easily yesterday, even fluids weren't great and had pain all day. So Just had an early night and slept it off :)

Oh no, I hope your feeling much better. It's so easily done. I have to keep remi doing myself to slow down and take my time when eating. Its hard when I'm at work and have a limited time for my lunch..xxx

I still to this day have trouble eating with a group because I am not mindfully eating and something always makes me feel stuck. Guess part of my 21 year old sleeve is still working.

I can eat the small Activia Greek yogurt cups but the full-size tubs are TOO MUCH at a time. Precious Pouch must be VERY PETITE to not hold THAT MUCH!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
