Thanks, Vera. My doc was so throrough with me. When you add up all the time he spent at my side, it's probably hours. I owe him a good try. And his advice is loaded with nothing but common sense so it's hard to disagree with him.

I agree, we're not like a baseball bat that has a place that meets the ball better. As I understand the term from our M.D.; is that the banding "Sweet Pot" is when you feel that your band is adjusted well enough to be the proper tool for weight reduction (and wellness). This Sweet Spot can be evolving, and will probably relate to your discipline as well.

I believe I'm at my Sweet Spot, but after two months and more fat loss, I believe I may some day need an adjustment to achieve a new sweet spot.

I was banded August 29th and am down 65 lbs, with 35 to go.

:D

Hey Lisa;

All is well; I'm keeping up with my two year old finally, and feeling great. I'm getting my other knee replaced in April, then I'll hit the ice again.

I still miss alot of the eating that got me to where I was, but all in all have gotten used to the new lifestyle better than i thought I would.

I truly feel blessed with my outcome as I've followed the horrors that you've been through. I think I can speak for all of on the site in wishing you better results as you move forward.

And again to everybody, please continue to share your experiences, because there are many of us who check in to see that many of the challenges and rewards that we face are shared by the group. And also to see the differences in our own lives, bodies, fills and bands (mine is 11 cm).

Thanks. :D

6 weeks after my band was fitted I had my first fill of 1cc - insignificant in my 10cc VG band. So I went back yesterday for another. This time I got 3cc's to make a total of 4.

I've definitely got restriction - but of course it's early days.

I got 2.7 at my first fill and it has been perfect (3 out of 4 weeks a month) That one week before I cycle- I am really tight and am lucky to get a solid thing down in the evening. The other three weeks it is just perfect.

I am going back to see Dr. Martinez for a check up while mom gets a fill. I don't really need to get a fill, but she won't go alone and she needs one.

But again I know not to compare, it works for me

I am flying to Mexico next month to get my second fill, (I wasn't able to find a doctor in Florida that was in my price range, they all want over $1000 for a fill.) I currently have 1 cc's and didn't get any restriction with that first fill, what do you all recommend that I get. Should I assume that my doctor will know best? He did not want to be aggressive with the first fill, as I was really sick after my surgery and had a very rough time. I did call him and told him that the fill had not given me any additional restriction than the band alone, he said he would be more aggressive but how much do you think I should get, I certainly don't want to get over filled, but hate to go so far and through the expense and not get restriction. Please help and give me some advice.

Estela, will your dr be able to do the fill with flouro and a barium swallow so that he can watch and make sure you get a proper fill? I ask because my own dr doesn't have the kind of equip to do that, but it sure would make life easier!!! If not, I suggest that you have a thorough discussion with your dr about how much you can eat right now and let him advise you on how much fill you should have. No one here could even begin to guess at how much you may need. Good luck!!!

I know what a barium swollow is, but I don't know what flouro is, the last time I got a fill, he did it under some kind of x rays, I could see the band and when he did the fill, I could actually see the liquid going into the band, I guess I will let him decide how much I should have, because right now I don't feel much restriction and so I have been kind of eating too much, I have managed to maintain my weight loss, but I am disappointed that I have not been albe to lose any more weight. I am now wearing a size 12, so I am extremely happy about that, I have roll over hang over the top, but my rule is , if you don't have to lay on the bed or jump up and down to zip them up, they are just right!!! Well thanks for the advice and would you please tell me what flouro is.

My first fill and every fill there after was only .5 cc. So be thankful your doctor didn't make you go slow. I was banded 7-6-04, and I have lost 44 pounds total.

My doctor gave me 2cc in my first fill. I have the 10 cm band. I usually feel the restriction in the am when I get up and before I have eaten!

Does anyone know how the port is attached? I mean, what is it stitched to. It gives a pulling sensation. What I thought was the "band"area turned out to be the "port" area. I guess I really CAN'T feel the band except when my food is going through it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
