Grisly Tummy

Recommended Posts

So, I had VSG on July 8. Things are going well, I am still just trying to figure out my tummy. It growls and gurgles a lot. I try to ignore it, but I’m wondering if I need to listen to it some, or if I just need to keep counting Protein and doing my thing. Like, does my stomach THINK it’s hungry and it has to get used to my new normal? I’m just confused. TIA!

Mine talks a lot as well. It’s less than it was in the beginning, though.

Haven't had the surgery yet myself (in 10-11 days), but my friend who had it warned me about the same thing! She says hers does get really loud at really awkward times. I have also researched this and am reading about many others with the same issue.

I read that many people have this as well. One side effect of the surgery, not sure if it completely goes away.

I had surgery in April 2018. I experienced the stomach gurgles for a while. It does get better.

I also had my surgery in April 2018. My tummy gurgled a bit early on, but not enough to even be distracting. Even now I don't get it so much now, but I have to say that it woke me up this morning. Was sitting up in bed reading and I heard a loud noise I thought came from my dogs. Nope, it was me. Honestly, I think that was the loudest one yet.

I had my sleeve 21 years ago and my stomach still talks loud after I eat, very embarrassing!

Mine did the same right after surgery—even with liquids. Now that I’m on soft foods it still happens. 🤦‍♀️ Just something we have to deal with. I take chewable gas-x tablets if I have a meeting after lunch. Lol.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
