Hospital Food - Good News!

Recommended Posts

I thought this was pretty interesting. I found my experience to be the same not only this most recent surgery, but for the past 8+ years, my hospital offers an a la carte menu and allows the patient to pick or choose their own meal selections--even if you are on restricted diets aka diabetic or cardiac diet/low sodium, etc. I wanted to share my menu and thought it was very user friendly. It showed the total carbs for each selection and defined the caloric parameters of "mindful selections" which made it super easy to make healthy choices! (Even when I was on clear liquids!!)

So maybe they ARE "getting it"? :)

When I wasn't NPO (nothing by mouth) or on Clear Liquids with broth (delicious) + SF Jello + iced tea + decaff black coffee, I chose the baked white fish (zero carbs without the breading) + green Beans + fresh fruit cup and light yogurt for my challenge meals. :) I only ate about 1/8cup total volume of solids, so didn't worry about how many carbs/sugars in the Yoplait Lite Yogurt...meh. Some areas could use improvement...lol, but hey, it's a start!

Wow, that's really encouraging that some hospitals are doing this

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
