Hi everyone!

I have a random question that popped up when my hubby and I were discussing our plans for when I have my surgery. I have 3 more nutrition appointments before I can submit for approval, but am looking forward to getting this done :-)

One of the things that my hubby was planning on doing for me the day before my surgery was sending me to the spa for a spa day. Would that be ok? Has anyone else done that?

Best of luck to everyone on this journey! I can't express how much reading your stories has helped me reassure myself that this is the right journey for me :-)

Awe! What a sweet hubby!

I would check with your surgeon, just to be sure.

I had to do magnesium citrate the day before my surgery to clear everything out of my system, so a spa day would have been uhhmm, complicated. 😮

I also had to wash with special soap the day before and day of, so lotions etc. might have been troublesome. Some surgeons don't even want patients to shave for a few days prior to surgery to minimize the chance of small nicks and cuts that could be a pathway for infection.

Good luck with your surgery!

Yes I had to wash with the soap for three days prior to surgery. They may not want any lotions or things of that nature on your skin

Yep, I'd not do it until you are healed. They don't want any risk of skin born pathogens causing sores or healing issues. But what a thoughtful dude!!!

DO IT!

My hurrah was eating a personal flatbread pizza that I shouldn't have eaten with bbq pulled pork & banana peppers with a peach margarita I shouldn't have drank lol.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
