I have a terrible addiction to sugar. I binge and binge. I don’t know how to get it under control. I’m working with an eating disorder specialist but I have only seen her once and won’t see her until next month after I have surgery.

Anyone else go through this? Going through this?

Cut grains too, any starchy carbs - all cause cravings, up your Protein and fats - avocado will help you feel satisfied. It will take 3-4 days to rid your body of the stores of the carbs. Drink more plain Water. Also some people find artificial sweeteners to cause cravings.

It totally suck% to go through the withdrawal - can you find a hobby to do, or go to the lake and read a book - without taking carb food with you. Go to the library, anywhere to get your mind off of the cravings. Take a beauty bath - get a mani-pedi, stay busy busy. Experiment with makeup to try something new. I find when I am dressed up a little and made up and feel pretty I don't want to ruin that with food. Call a friend and just talk. Then call another friend. LOL

candy is the one thing I haven’t been able to totally give up. I don’t eat a ton but do have a little each day.
I did switch from anything sweet n low to truvia. It’s pretty good. I put it in my coffee, my plain yogurt.

I’m 5 year’s post-op and I’ve been having this issue really bad for about a year. I can’t get my craving for sugar under control. I’m also a former diabetic and scared I’m going to have diabetes again if this keeps up. I have no will power when it comes to the sugar. I so need help to get this under control.

I understand what youre going through. What worked for me was going cold turkey from sweets. I planned it so I had several days off work, so i could go through the irritable headachy part of withdrawal at home. I still have mild cravings for sweets but right now yogurt with granola helps.

Sugar free! That helps. I would eat a piece of sugar free candy. Take away the craving almost instantly.

This is what I may have to do. I got lucky- there was a cancellation at the therapists office, so I got an appointment for tomorrow. Surgery is on Monday. I’m so afraid I’ll just gain it all back because I want cupcakes more than good health.

My addiction to chocolate and sweets has stalled my weightloss journey. I am trying to figure out what I can do as well. I am really struggling.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
