June Surgery Buddies! How is everyone feeling?

Recommended Posts

I just had surgery yesterday and ouch, I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck! How is everyone feeling? I’ve been up and walking around since yesterday after my surgery and I think it’s catching up to me a bit. Is the first week the hardest?

I had surgery on the 18th. The first 3 days I was pretty wiped out. But after that, each day has been progressively better. In fact, this morning I went outside and walked 2 miles (s-l-o-w-l-y), and felt great.

You can do it! I felt that being in the hospital was the worst part. You're in a strange place, without your 'stuff' and everyone in your space. :) Hang in there.

First 4-5 days was the hardest. Second week I started to feel more normal, just tired. Third week I was fine and now I’m 3w2d out and I’ve been to the gym, I’ve been on multiple 5 mile bike rides, stairs etc...

I had the gastric bypass and omg it hurts...especially my low left side. My surgery was on Monday 6/24, and was hoping to feel better.

Hi! My surgery was on Tuesday 6/25 and I’m still having a lot of pain... I tried weening myself off the pain meds, but the pain is so bad I have to take it... the shoulder, neck, and back pain are the worst! I can’t get comfortable whether I sit, stand, kneel, or lay down...
On a better note, I’ve been meeting my liquid & Protein goals, I’m able to keep liquids down. No nausea or vomiting. Walking quite a bit... plan to take a walk outside with my husband later on in the evening.

Sunshine in Mars- sounds as though your body is holding on to your excess gas instead of letting it dissipate. Try warm compresses along with still trying to walk it off, and if you feel like Crying while walking, go right ahead, you've earned the Right To Sing The Blues!
Victoriaobe Astitch in the side seems to be pretty common, you're not the first to menti9n it. Perhaps your surgeon did a l8ttke extra re- enforcing there. I remember one girl mentioned being a little farther along, she must have healed in that spot, felt a "Ping" and it hurt no more! Just a weird and funky feeling.

I had surgery 6/17. I had minimal gas pains and never had any nausea. Lost 17 lbs the first week, but the 2nd week I’ve only lost like 2 lbs. I like to see consistency so the extreme difference in number in the first two week is messing with my head but I’m trying not to let it. I’ve moved to the soft foods stage. liquids was the WORST!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
