Surgery was done yesterday. Still sore but it takes time to get better. Iโ€™m biggest thing is knowing if Iโ€™m full or hungry itโ€™s hard to tell right now, I hope that gets easier.
I have that same feeling right now! It's weird.

Surgery was yesterday. Had a really rough night with vomiting, but today is going better. Can't wait to move this gas bubble out though

How are you feeling?

Iโ€™m doing great. Thanks for asking. I had a lot of pain when I first woke up. But he morphine drip eventually calmed it. That was around 4 pm. By midnight I was no longer pushing the bottom for morphine. Now Iโ€™m just resting comfortably. I am getting an odd gasโ€™s pain in my shoulder and upper back that comes and goes. That pain is worse than the surgery pain. But even then it eventually subsides. I was able to drink Water well. I drank my Liquid Protein but I couldnโ€™t stomach the Jello.

Overall Iโ€™m happy. Not too much pain and so glad itโ€™s over.

Being kept over an extra night because the gas isn't moving at all and causing lots of pain.

I was in from Monday to Friday. I agree the gas pains are terrible and I gained 15 pounds of Fluid. I looked like I was 7 months pregnant with all the gas and fluid, ugh! Glad you are on the road to recovery!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.ย  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.ย  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? Itโ€™s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so Iโ€™m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight.ย It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey โค๏ธย Together, we got this!
