Weight Loss Challenge: Thanksgiving to New Years

Recommended Posts

Hi Everybody,

I am a June bandster and would like to join you all here. I have fiddled around and lost about 40 pounds since my surgery in June. The past month I just haven't paid as much attention as I did in the early stages and now I would like to get serious about dropping another 20 pounds by the end of the year. I would like to have an average loss of 10 pounds per month so I need to kick it up a notch.

If you would like to join me in this challenge just copy and paste and we will keep a running total.

Michelle - thanks for posting! My first challenge was Labor Day to Thanksgiving - I really didn't know how motivating it would be, but it really was. I was disappointed when I couldn't change my number and the first thing I wanted to do when I made it was sign in and update it!

This challenge will be about 5 weeks, so I think I will go for 10lbs. That would put me at 101lbs lost from June, so I would be happy with that!

I am really excited about this holiday season, from the standpoint that I won't be able to gorge myself the way I used to everytime I sit down at the table. Has anyone else noticed how the "bad" food tends to go down much easier than the "good" food? For instance I can literally inhale Reeces cups but have to chew a piece of broasted chicken forever and then can still only eat about 1/3 of my meal before I feel like if I eat another bite it will be coming back up.

I would like to join also. I am going to the Dr. on Wed. so I will wait till then to put my weight down.

I know what you mean about the junk food going down so good. I could eat chips and salsa forever, and it never bothers me at all. That is just not fair.

My weight loss has bee very slow. No more than 5 lbs. a month. Now, this last month, I don't know if I will have lost any. I need to get thing speeded up.

OK...I can't wait hehe...I'll update my current weight on Thanksgiving day, if there's a drop from my current weight :)

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade here...but there is only 5 weeks and 4 days between thanksgiving and new years day...keeping with 1.5-2lbs average per week...it would be difficult, not impossible, but difficult to lose more than 10-15 pounds and 15 pounds is a stretch for most. Yes, we want to set goals that challenge us, but at the same time being realistic.

PLEASE don't take this the wrong way...I just don't want anyone to be disappointed or feel like they've failed if they don't make their goal. Hope I didn't offend anyone :phone: I think you are all amazing people and I admire all of you! :car:

We're here for ya Rhonda

When you say "fallen off the bandwagon", how do you mean? Do you have good restriction, but are eating junk food? Or do you perhaps need a fill to help acheive optimal restriction?

No offense taken :) I know that it's a stretch for me to lose 12 pounds in that short of time. But, I originally had that goal set for my birthday on 2/23 so I am ahead of schedule!! I know that I work better under pressure so why not push myself just a little harder ?! I only WIN with this Godsend of a Band :phone:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

I'm in. I'm still averaging 1.59 a week and I hope to get my first fill in 2 months after Thanksgiving. My 8.8 isn't as ambitious as others, but at 1.5 for 5 weeks that's 7 1/2 pounds so I'm hoping for a little more...and the 240 will definitely put me at a lower weight than my hubby has known me at.

I failed the last weight loss challenge big time. I hit a plateau and still cannot get off it. I am going to choose a small amount of weight. Hopefully the plateau will leave soon. I have a lot of restriction because I pb all the time. I have to pickup the pace of exercise though. It got cold out here and I like walking outside but if it is too cold out I do not go out.

Rhonda:

I live in Massachusetts and I don't like the cold weather either. Although it's alot easier to bundle up and walk when it's 30 than when it's 90.

Get the best long jacket with a hood, great mittens (warmer than gloves) and an MP3 player and escape like I do. Yesterday I got the new Jordin Sparks CD and it was a great walk. My MP3 player makes walking so much better.

Good luck, and forget the cold.

Sue

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
