I don’t remember how quickly I lost weight with my Gastric Sleeve 10 years ago, but I am losing fairly slowly with the bypass. Since I went on the pre-operation diet on April 30, I have lost about 9 kgs - nearly 20 lbs - but in the last couple of weeks, only about 1 kg per week.

Not worried though - I am in this for the long haul.

The doctor and dietician are telling me I may only lost another 7-8 kgs, but I plan on proving them wrong. I am currently just over 80 kgs (176 lbs) and my first goal is 75 kgs, but my actual goal is to get into the 60s. I’d like to be somewhere between 65-68 kgs (143-150 lbs).

I will enjoy proving them wrong!

I just went back and found the weight loss diary I kept when I had my Gastric Sleeve. The first couple of weeks I had a loss of a couple of kgs per week, then it dropped to 1 kg, and all the way down to 0.1 kg and even a gain one week. But the general trend was down and I went from 105 kgs to 59 kgs.

So slowly is the answer. Don’t expect it to drop off in a couple of weeks. It is much more likely to stay off if it comes off gradually. If you’re interested in a spreadsheet of the weight loss, just let me know.

people lose weight at all different rates for all different reasons - age, gender, metabolic rate, starting BMI, whether or not they lost weight before surgery (thus, they wouldn't lose much "water weight" after surgery since it was already gone), etc. Your commitment to your plan is a MUCH greater predictor of your eventual success than your rate of weight loss is. Plus, you don't have a lot of control over your rate of weight loss, so pretty much all you can do is be as compliant as you can.

that said, yes, I was a slow loser. I was told that a couple of times during my follow ups that first year by medical residents, which bothered me because I thought they were implying that I wasn't being compliant - but I was! But I went on to lose 100% of my excess weight.

so just stick to your plan and the weight WILL come off, either fast or slow.

Yep, I'm six months post-op and only have lost 35 pounds and I'm following the program, eating right, exercising, Protein, and Water.

I am almost 6 months out and Ive lost 50 pounds. I have read a lot of stories of people who just dropped weight like crazy and it made me so depressed so I left all of those groups (Facebook) and focused on my own journey and started working out at the gym. Now my weight is finally moving again and I now have 60 pounds to go. I have no idea if I'll make it but Im certainly trying. The upside to slow loss....I have lost no hair, I feel fine and I am trying to tighten my skin and build muscle so I wont look like a deflated balloon :)

I'm very slow losing. I lost the majority of my weight with the sleeve (during the time I was in hospital with a leak) and then only about 55 lbs since RNY. I have figured out that I don't lose weight during my cycle - I also have PCOS - my hormones are just crazy now since I'm going through perimenopause. I just try to keep calm and figure that I will lose some during the month, but right now it's averaging at about 10 lbs a month I guess.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
