Did I tell anyone? Yes...my husband, my sis, 3 of my closest friends and one coworker. Havent regretted it yet. Didnt and am not going to tell my parents or in-laws. My mom is incredibly judgemental. She was overweight years ago and through hard work and diet, she lost over 60 lbs. She would have given me tons of grief.

As for how did I keep it secret? Much like everyone else. Told my boss I was having surgery (female issues) and would be out for a week for recovery. He never asked for any more details and as far as my coworkers know, I'm on vacation (I was banded on 11/30. RTW on 12/10).

It's a very personal decision and obviously it's up to each one of us as to how we handle it. The band is mine and all that goes along with it!

The third week after surgery I went on a cruise and told as many people who showed a little bit of interest about my LB weight loss surgery. It helped get my happiness out! Finally losing weight, put me on a high. Eliminating back pain, gave me peace. And talking about it with strangers who had no preconceived idea of who I was, or what I should do was liberating.

Now am back at home. Somewhat talked out. Am glad, as my weight loss has slowed to a pound or half each week. My DH is encouraging by noticing changes. A kind word goes a long way.

As for the nay sayers, I look forward to continue growing and meeting upbeat new friends.

I totally agree with you Hungryforchange. That's exactly how I feel about telling about the surgery for me. I thought I had written it, hehe. The only difference is I'm getting banded Dec 27th and will be on Protein liquid diet during our family Christmas eve party. That will definately be a challenge. Since I see my family quite often (we all live pretty close to each other), and just spent Thanksgiving with them, I won't feel bad if all of a sudden I don't feel well and stay home Christmas Eve night! That's my secret! I'll still send my hubby to the party, hehe.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
