Hello Everyone!

I am currently 2 Weeks Post-Op and I was wondering if any of you could help me with some lingering nutritional questions that I have.

Q1: I love to put one tablespoon of steak sauce on my chicken when I eat, it keeps me from getting bored. Do any of you eat steak sauce regularly; how has that gone for you? If you eat chicken with other sauces, let me know! (Hot Sauces are welcomed 🔥)

Q2: Do you all recommend the Body Armor drink? Or should I stay away from it? I used to drink them and bought one again, as it has a lot of Vitamins and tastes good. What do you all think?

Q3: Do any of you still eat Pasta after surgery? I love pasta, but I know it’s an empty carb. If you don’t eat pasta, what substitutes do you all recommend?

Feel free to answer any of the questions. Also, if any of you have some healthy recipes that you eat, let me know! Thank you! ❤️

Just my two cents on a couple of your questions...

Condiments like steak sauce or ketchup can be loaded with sugar, so be careful. I would suggest maybe trying mustard instead?

Pasta alternatives... my go to is zucchini noodles. Love love love them. Good in hot and cold recipes.

Zoodles are good, I use Green Giant riced broccoli or cauliflower in my homemade Soups, really liked the cauliflower medley one. Still living a good portion on soups, make your own and you know what they contain. Probably making some variety,of vegetable Soup this evening, season it gently,, should be,good for several meals.

I'm not doing Pasta until I reach my goal weight and then only sparingly on rare occasion. I think Condiments are okay, just be aware of how much sugar they have in them. Steak sauce and BBQ sauces are often loaded with sugar. Try to stick to Protein most of the time.

I still don't do Pasta at four years out. Empty calories that take up stomach space. I have eaten zoodles a few times, and they're a decent substitute.

Condiments - they do have sugar, although I still used them occasionally. As far as spicy things, if you can tolerate them, there's nothing wrong with eating them. My sense of taste intensified after surgery, so sweet things tasted sweeter and spicy things tasted spicier. I couldn't handle spicy things quite as well as I could pre-surgery, and to top it off, I couldn't slam a glass of milk after eating something that was too spicy for me since we're not allowed to drink right after eating. SO...I did shy away from spicy things for awhile (I still don't eat anything *super* spicy, since I can't drink anything afterward to cool my mouth down!!)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
