WA state... looking into getting panni and br

Recommended Posts

Anyone in WA with Regence Uniform (state employee insurance), get a panniculectomy and/or breast reduction after weight loss? I am 1 year post op from RNY and down from highest of 268.8 to 156.8. My insurance appears to cover a panniculectomy after 18 months. Sounds like a breast reduction might be covered as well? Some have suggested doing that and paying for implant etc (i want to even them out as well).

Any surgeons in the Olympia area you suggest?

I'm hoping for a breast reduction as well. Do you think insurance will cover it after wls?

Just a quick note that I had a breast reduction done in 2014 (surgery was 2011). My breasts were very uneven but I did not want implants. The surgeon basically told me “I had enough material to work with!” It was the best decision ever. I love my breasts; I am a 36 B and they feel and look very natural, even and I still have sensation in my nipples. So before you go an implant route, consider what they can do with what you have. And no, I was self pay for everything.

Thanks for the info. I'm was a DD, now I'm a D. I wouldn't want to be smaller than a large C, so not sure it would work with implant, but I will definitely find out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
