Timeline after weigh-in appointments?

Recommended Posts

I have my last follow up/weigh in appointment this week! I’m so so excited and the 7 months really flew by! But I do my psych eval and my last appointment on Thursday and I’ve already taken care of all other necessities like bloodwork, urine test, sleep study... so this should pretty much be it! So unreal. Just curious how anyone whose already been here- how long did it take and what was the process after this point? I believe I need to meet with the surgeon but I’m not sure what else. And how long did your insurance take to get back to the dr? Ahhh! So excited! And excited to hear everyone else’s experience! Thank you

After I completed all the requirements my program had an informational class and then we met with the surgeon one on one. They submitted to insurance the next day and it took 3 weeks for my approval. After that I scheduled my surgery and last pre op appointment. My last appointment was 2 days before surgery. I am now 3 weeks and a few days post surgery.

After my last appointment it took 3 days for my approval to come back from insurance. My surgery was scheduled out for 5 weeks or so. Would have been sooner but I pushed it back due to work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
