Can u drink too much

Recommended Posts

I drank a really large Water and now my stomach is all puffed out because its so full. I never asked my doctors if it was possible too drink too much at one time. Does it just run right through to the bottom part of your stomach? I wonder if thats the section thats stuffed with Fluid. Can u stretch anything out from fluids?

Fluids for the most part should funnel on through. One major exception being when if you are already backed up with food. Then fluids are a major ouchie (IME). I also know people who have PBed on straight liquids - that I've not done, but it would indicate that even just a plain liquid can be ingested too fast and back up, having no where else to go but out.

Yep, I agree.

I still drink a ton of Water at a time but I really, really try not to make myself feel "full" from it and I definately try not to drink until at least 30 minutes after a meal as I have found like Wheetsin said that it can make me feel uncomfortable because food was already in my pouch. But also because I get hungry so much faster when I put liquids in too soon after eating.

As for possible damage? I don't know, except to say my philosophy is if I've done something that made me feel badly then I try not to do it again just to ensure I don't hurt myself accidently.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
