I’m almost 2 weeks post op and had a serious craving for something sweet....put some light cool whip in the freezer....put a tiny bit of caramel sauce on it and I’m in HEAVEN!!! Better than ice cream 🙏😱

Yes, sweets have always been my downfall and I was loving me some sugar-free popsicles just after surgery

Glad you found a good substitute. I've endulged in pints of Halo Top and other high Protein, low sugar ice creams (some also have decent Fiber content). They certainly don't taste as good as real ice cream but I figure if I stick with it after a while it will be the new normal.

Or you'll decide it isn't worth the trouble any more, at least that's how I now feel about my former junky food sweets, don't know why I used to like them so much?
Really makes it easier to avoid them now. that's a Slippery Slope yours truly isn't going to go sledding down anymore.😝My new size is such a hard-won📦 prize I won't mess it up.

I made banana SF pudding the other day with FairLife milk and a scoop of Peanut Butter powder- tastes like a pb/banana sandwich. Low cal, low fat, good amount of Protein.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
