Vasovagal syncope

Hello all,

I’m still pre-op, doing some research while I wait for my intake appointment, and came across some information that pointed to an increase in cases of vasovagal syncope after bariatric surgery.

My question is- does anyone have experience with having VS BEFORE wls?

If so, did your surgeon have concerns? Did your symptoms worsen after surgery? If they did, did this decrease over time as your body adjusted and your diet rounded out?

I will be discussing this with my surgeon, but I wanted to see if anyone could share their own experiences. Thanks!

  • I have it, but I have a pacemaker as well. My surgery is set to be scheduled by the end of February. No one seems concerned or worried on my side. Good luck!

If this is the same as Reflex Syncope my Late Mama in law had the carotid variety. Hadn't heard anything of it since she passed 16 years ago.
