Stomach cramping

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I’ve just joined this forum in the hope that I can gain some encouragement and reassurance!

I had a sleeve done on Wednesday 23 Jan, and was allowed home yesterday afternoon.

When I first came round I felt really sick, in lots of pain and waned to sleep a lot (fairly normal from quite major surgery I suppose!).

I’ve already been through the regret phase and thinking OMG what have I done.....but think I’m starting to come out the other side of that quite quickly.

I’m managing enough liquid - Water, tea, broth, liquid ibuprofen and paracetamol, all fine. However.....no matter what I take down, I get like a gurgling sensation in my stomach as it’s passing down which then turns into a cramp. This happens straight away after consuming anything and lasts for 10-15 minutes, sometimes longer.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how long for? Is this what’s known as dumping syndrome?

I’ve told my consultant and he wasn’t concerned - just said it’s ny body getting used to the changes. Just wondered if anyone else experienced this to start off with.

Did your doctor ok Ibuprofin? It is an NSAID and we were told no nsaids. It could damage your stomach. Please check with your doctor to make sure you can have that. My stomach always gurgles, even now at almost 3 months post op. Dumping syndrome is when you have something you should not like sugar or sweets, fried, etc. I have not experienced dumping yet, but i also think its more with the RNY and i had the sleeve. Not sure since i have not experienced it. I wish you a speedy recovery soon.

The consultant ok’d all the meds I’m taking, but you make a really good point. Maybe I will just take the paracetamol to be on the safe side 🤔🤔🤔

Over the course of the day today my stomach has experienced less cramping and more gurgling without any pain, so maybe I’m turning a bit of a corner today....

I’m glad I found this forum as I was full of regret and a bit depressed about what I’d done earlier in the week, but reading through the posts here it seems that goes away with time.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
