@Healthy _ life can I eat lentils?

Real food stage - My instructions are four years old. Not all of our plans are the same. Can you eat lentils? My plan is low carb. Yes, if it fits your carbohydrate goal for the day. Eat your Protein goal first then move on to your other foods. Know low carbs will be in weight loss mode. You will be adding more carbs in maintenance phase to slow/stop your weight loss.

How do you know if you have hit your carbohydrate goal for the day? My instructions were to log my food in an app. People use baritastic or myfitnesspal. Log even if its a chore and inconvenient at first. It gets to be a habit. It made things much easier. Your goal right now is to get 60 to 100 gram of protein each day and to stay with in your carbohydrate and calorie goals.

Here is a link to my dietitians bariatric recipes website for food ideas. (note omit rice, white potato,bread pasta) Some of her recipes (Example clam chowder) has white potato but in minimal amounts. She is fine with. Most carbs come from plant based foods.

How far out your surgery are you? I am three months out from and I’m still have hard time eating legumes... you can always try a small spoon and see if it hurts you or not... everybody is different on food tolerance
3 weeks...I just started eating egg today..

I would suggest to try soft and puréed food... introduce fish, seafood, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurts etc slowly into your daily life... as soon as you see you can tolerate these, you can add one new thing every once in a while in minimum quantities. Every body is unique and there is no 100% right diet and wrong diet. Just focus on your Proteins first and then you can worry about your greens, carbs are coming last.

You'll get used to it. Also, no drinking through a straw. Like the others have already said, drinking flushes the food right through and can keep you from absorbing the nutrients you need as well as possibly make you overeat. Wait 10 minutes after drinking before eating and 30 minutes after eating before drinking.

There is a great post from 4 hours ago called Pouch Rules for Dummies. Even though you had sleeve there is some really great info there about reasons why you shouldn't drink before, during, or an hour after. Just search the title and you can find it. I'd copy and send you my stuff but I had rny.

I worried about that too. You’ll find when you chew chew chew your food that it’s less of a problem.

I'm starting to get used to it, but it is one of the tougher rules for me. I get thirsty when I eat, and because I am often NOT thirsty at other times, the craving for liquids really hits me. It can stretch out your sleeve, and it can flush food through too quickly so that you don't feel satisfied and eat too much. For me, on the few occasions that I was so thirsty that I broke the rule, just a small sip or two after eating made me feel bloated, gurgly, weird and gross, so fortunately it discouraged me from doing that and helps me stick to the rule. If I really need to, I rinse my mouth out instead.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
