Simone, that is exactly what is happening to me when I stand up. Then, I have this constant feeling of needing to get air out of my stomach.

I had pain for about two weeks. Then in to my 3rd week I had awful pain below my left incision for about 9 days. Hurt to walk, breath, sit up. Doctor assured me this was normal, he said it was basically nerve pain. Luckily it too subsided and almost 6 weeks out I’m starting to feel normal. I went through a very difficult time emotionally too, it was hard to see the light. Best of luck!

Glad to hear things are finally smoothing out, yeah surgery even with the best of times " rocks our world" to the very foundations. Glad your path is looking clearer.

I'm 5 weeks out and am now having the nerve pain in my big incision. The surgeon said they did a deep stitch there because of the damage of the camera. It's been about a week but hope it gets better soon.

I am struggling hard with my Fluid intake as well. If i try to force myself I feel over full and I've actually made myself nauseaous from forcing it down. Normal Water is too heavy and hurts so am always having to flavour it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
