Don't give up hope, I'm sure there will be a February 27-28,yet , in the meantime you can watch, the earlier people, see if there is anything from their experiences you can use for your Good. I have my surgery on Tuesday 5th. I am going from sleeve to bypass. If you look back over my history, you'll see that I had a terrible time with the sleeve - I had a leak on day 2 or 3 and was in hospital for the next two and a half months. I missed out on all of the wonderful honeymoon period and it really messed up my head. I was more desperate for food not having had anything by mouth for the time I was in hospital. For a food addict, that was bad.

So... a new beginning, hopefully. I won't say I am not scared out of my mind, but I have to do something. I lost 80 lbs the first time round but have now gained back 24 lbs. Most of my family think I'm crazy - one has flat out said that they won't help me again if anything goes wrong, so... I guess I won't be calling on them. My mother, who is in the UK, has said she will jump on a plane if I need her. She's a wonderful woman. My husband is taking time off work to look after our daughter. He would rather I didn't go through surgery again - he has a touch of PTSD - but he understands and he is supporting me.

I just hope that with surgery and some therapy, I will be able to do this this time.

Has anyone starting preping food such as Jello for after surgery. I go this Friday. I made 4 cups of sugar free Jello. Made homemade chicken broth. Bought 30 sugar free popcicles. Have like 36 premier proteins.anything you guys reccommended to prep before Friday.

I’ve been using all of those things now on my preop diet, so I’ll need to get more before my surgery on the 12th, but I have been doing some prepping by blending and freezing a few things for the purée stage as I cook various things for my family. I made them chicken Soup and I took out some chicken and broth and puréed it and put in 2oz containers in the freezer. I did that with chili verde as well. I plan to do a few more things this week, depends what I make them for dinner. Honestly I haven’t been cooking a whole lot while on this liquid diet🤨

I will be taking an Uber. I guess I’m just very embarrassed and ashamed it has come to this. Also, I don’t think anyone in my life would understand. Literally my whole family is skinny. I suffer from anxiety and having this major surgery is weighing heavy on me. I keep thinking something might go wrong at the operating table
Have you asked your surgeon if he will allow you to go home in an Uber? I’ve been a nurse for 20 years and we were never allowed to send someone home after surgery in a cab. It had to be someone who could be responsible for the patient in an emergency.

Sounds like you're in great shape. I would recommend unflavored Protein if you don't already have it. If you need to get in more protein you can just add it to the chicken broth. I bought mine from Unjury.

Don’t really know how to use this app but if anyone is comfortable private messaging me, I would really appreciate it, I would love to text someone about all my worries

Hang in there. It’s natural to worry but the statistics support the benefit of following through. I know of at least 10 family, friends and colleagues that have had bariatric surgery. All of them experienced anxiety but none of them have regret. They all wished they would have done it sooner....Heck so do I. My close friend and I started this health journey together but I began 2 months ahead of her. Only the dr’s team, she and my husband know I am getting a sleeve. She was sleeved on 12/20 (her insurance only required 3 months while mine required 6) while I am scheduled for 2/18 and I begin my two week pre-op diet tomorrow. Funny, I had to encourage her to stay the course as she got major cold feet the week before but now, she’s my advisor and support to push through.

Anyone to confide in?? Don’t have to give all the details but perhaps just so someone knows you’re having a procedure performed?

I am feeling the same way as you, mine is on the 11th. You aren't alone. I just try to keep myself busy and my mind off it but that's easier said then done. Just keep positive and focused on the reason you're doing it in the first place, that's the goal, the surgery is just one of the steps to getting there. Best wishes.

Thank you! I’m down to 3 days. I am supposed to be on a clear liquid diet on Wednesday. However, I think I will start that on tomorrow. Just so it’s just extra clear. I might even take a few laxatives to clean me out. I will do that because I have gastroperisis and my stomach empties way slower than a normal stomach. I developed that right after(a week later) I got the band put in.

Thank you for all your advice guys I appreciate it. got my dad to pick me up. He doesn’t really understand English well so I’m hoping I get to use that to my advantage of it being a secret. I’m sorry for being cowardly when it comes to confessing about surgery. I have a great support team in my life but I truly don’t think when it comes to WLS, anyone would approve or understand. The stigma weighs heavy

I know all the feb 5th people are getting excited! I just have to throw a couple things in my bag in the morning. I have my chlorhexadine wash for tonight and in the morning. I have to drink the apple juice tonight and in the morning then off to surgery. Getting super real!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
