2 week liquid diet starts today!

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone! With a surgery scheduled for 1/17, I am starting my 2-week Pre-OP liquid diet today. I am allowed no solids, and with the exception of unlimited sugar free liquids and Jello and broth, I can only have 1 egg, 1/2 cup ricotta cheese and 1 cup of yogurt daily. Any suggestions or words of wisdom to add variety into the next two week?!

I assume its three shakes plus the foods you have mentioned in your post?

You could try make a fairly basic ricotta bake adapting to the egg and ricotta cheese amounts you are able to have.

When I was on my pre-op diet which allowed only three shakes and low carb vegetables, a few times if I needed something different I would have cottage cheese or chicken in place of the shake but made sure it was to the same calorie count or Protein amount as the shake. I would have the low carb veges with it. It wasn't the right thing to do, and I certainly don't want to encourage you to do it, but it did save my sanity and kept me on track for some of the time, unfortunately I wasn't the best pre-op person, thankfully I am much better at post op haha

You have the same date as me but I am revising from band to bypass. This time around I haven’t got to do the liquid diet, I have just been told to stick with “ clean” eating.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
