Hello, Not exactly the same date but close. I was sleeved on Dec. 27, 2018. I am 7 days in tomorrow. I had an early followup appt today because my surgeon is taking some much needed time off to have knee surgery. I am doing great! I’ve lost 9 pounds and have lived with sugar free popsicles, premiere Protein Drinks, Water and some broth. This is my very first posting. I am 45 years old, starting out at 240. I lost a few pounds on the sugar busters diet prior to surgery (I only did a week of this). Today I weighed in at 222.

My starting weight was 230 and I'm 5'2. I got on the scale and its 220 [emoji16] wow almost exact weight. I was 240 a few weeks before surgery but lost 10 pounds. I lost my mom on dec 20th and I had the surgery on the 26th which was her bday. I am just lost without her. She wanted me to get surgery so I went ahead with it. Just sad she won't ever see my progress. I can't do the Protein Shakes so I'm eating scrambled egg and water and some carnation instant Breakfast. I've also had some Soup. I hope my dr isn't pissed at me tomorrow for actually eating stuff. Tonight I had a little mashed potatoes too. They were sooo good [emoji16] I also made some steamed carrots that I pureed. Wasn't hungry for those so will have to be for tomorrow.

So sorry to hear about your mother☹️. I am sure she is happy that you have taken the big step to have the surgery. My mom was quite the opposite but she has since come around. I have also had Decaf coffee and tried a vegan Protein Powder mixed with a boost drink. I know the boost are higher in calorie but they deliver Protein and satisfy my tummy. Reading some of the other posts I am wondering if my surgeon actually performed the surgery😂. Did you have any pain? I also had my Lapband removed at the same time.

My surgery was Dec 26 2018. The colon cleanse liquid diet over Christmas Eve & Christmas almost made me give up. But I persevered with only a couple tears. I began at 230 went down to 207 over a year, then just bounced from there to 217 and back again for a year. Doc said I had to loose last 7 lbs for surgery. So they started me on a special diet and it worked. Arrived day of surgery at 192 and 7 days out I'm at 184 but this almost all liquid diet is annoying as heck. I want some food! 😂

Hello, this is my first post here, but I’ve been lurking through the forums for a while. I’m sorry to hear about your mom, I can’t imagine.

I had my sleeve done Dec 26th, 2018. I was 227 at 5’1 before surgery, 221 day of, and was 209 today, so at least there’s progress.

i have yet to find a Protein Shake I can actual handle. The two I liked pre surgery taste awful now, and I’m awaiting the unflavored powder I ordered to arrive so I can try to mix it with stuff. :c

Hi, surgery twins! I was sleeved 12/26. Starting weight was 289 (I'm 5'8"), and I'm down 15 pounds so far. Had a really positive experience with surgery. Stayed one night, pain meds on surgery day only, and no nausea. I've been able to keep down everything I've tried.

Sipping on Premier Protein, creamy Soups, and Greek yogurt to get me through. Returned to work this past Wednesday. I'll start soft foods next Wednesday.

Hope y'all are doing good!

I don't know if you've tried this one yet, but I just tried Syntrax Nectar in chocolate Truffle flavor, and it blew my Premier Protein out of the Water. It's the best one I've tasted so far. Also very fine, so you can stir it in milk with just a spoon and not a lot of effort. Tasted almost exactly like chocolate milk to me.

Thank you! I’ll look into that one if the powders I ordered let me down. I should have it this weekend at the latest. I’ve spent so much money trying to find a tolerable shake that I’m trying it one at a time now to avoid overspending post Christmas time.

Hello my name is Lenny and I too had the sleeve on 12/26. I joined this forum because of this thread and the other great info I've read about on this forum. I have tons of questions about eating and my life after this sleeve but first some history on me.

I started this journey way back in March of 2018, and I weighed in at 320lbs. I'm 40lbs healthier, now down to 280lbs, and about 20lbs of that was from both the Protein Shake and full liquid diet before and after the surgery. Surgery the day after Christmas went really well, and unlike a lot on this forum, I can tolerate and enjoy the Protein Shakes. Can't tell you much I've enjoyed the taste of food again. Malt-o-meal, vanilla greek yogurt, and Soups have never tasted better.

I had my post op check up the other day and I'm down 15 lbs. He said I could move to pureed foods. I've been eating a scrambled egg with some cheese for a few days and it's great. Yesterday I ate some tuna and even went out to dinner with my dad! It was weird but I made it through. Had 1 shrimp cocktail and then I ordered a chicken breast with some cheese, jalepenos and a pablano pepper with sweet potato fries. Omg I thought I was in heaven. I chewed and chewed so it would be pureed in my mouth lol. Only ate a few bites but it filled me up and i felt fine[emoji16]

Jean9 It's great to hear about you advancing so well and so fast. Out to dinner already, wow, I know I'm not ready for that yet. I tried 1 scrambled egg this morning and did well with it. I'm going to move a bit slower then you but I like the idea of pureeing the chicken in my mouth.

It's great that I found this website and that I can get what works for others here and I don't have to travel this journey alone. Many thanks..............Lenny

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
