chugging water

Recommended Posts

I am usually really good at my small sips, but sometimes I just get SO thirsty I NEED to chug a bit of Water so I do. It hurts briefly and passes. Never have spit it back up. I've only done this like 5 times.... out of being desperately thirsty. Can water alone stretch the pouch over time by doing this? I always heard water basically passes straight through... hence only the temporary discomfort. Never have any gas or anything. I've tried biotene and spry mouth spray to stave off thirst and dry mouth, but it doesn't help. I just HAVE to drink some quantifiable water sometimes. Is this a serious issue I have to stop? Or is once in a while okay if it isn't upsetting my stomach?

Chugging isn't good, but you don't need to take tiny sips anymore. That's just in the beginning when everything is swollen. You should be able to drink normally now and if you do, then you shouldn't get so thirsty that you need to chug.

I do not chug but i have found myself trying to take 3 drinks in a row from a bottle of Water. Two back to back i can get away with.. Always.. without fail when i attempt the 3rd one, its an automatic reaction to stop mid drink stick my tongue on the bottle to keep water from entering my mouth and then i sit and wait with liquid in my mouth for a min before i swallow. It is the funniest thing.. Good thing it hasnt happened in public LOL.

Hello, I am back to 1 oz medicine cups to get my fluids in, anything approuching a normal sip, either extreme pain or it reflexes back up. Undoubtedly I am still swollen internally, but am praying that the therapies I am following are starting to heal the ulcerstions et all.

Ohhh I am still on teeny tiny sips because the ulcer situation. Hurts like cray cray if I take larger sips. Still on hot Water, too. I figured tiny sips were a forever thing.

Me too Mousecat Me too! I am just about resigned to it being a forever thing. Maybe Precious Pouch is rigid instead expanding, contracting and having any residual peristalsis, just a tupperware or Rubbermaid container in my upper abdomen. Guess it would have to be Rubbermaid of the 2, that's made in Ohio.

It is really frustrating because I am SO. THIRSTY. basically all the time. But once the nausea kicks in, I can't stomach any Water so need to wait it out, which could be hours. And then I want to chug, but that hurts, too. =( Ughhhh. My best day will be when I can actually finish my 22oz thermos in my 8 hour work day.

I'm not sure water would sit in our pouches long enough to stretch it. I too chug water sometimes, and am immediately reminded by the discomfort to slow down.

And if you have the sense God gave a Gopher, you Learn by pain not to do THAT again!🍶

I am scheduled for surgery in February 2019, and drinking Water is one of my biggest post-op concerns. I drink a LOT of water, and I can't imagine taking tiny sips all day long. I'm glad to hear that it might be possible to drink like a normal person during maintenance.

And how does it work if you are doing something or going somewhere that makes it impossible to drink for a few hours?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
