800 Calories Per Day

Recommended Posts

Hello Peeps,

I have a female friend from church that was sleeved around the same time as me. She has lost a ton of weight and looks like a totally different person. I asked her how she has been been so successful, is it diet? or exercise? counting calories? counting carbs? She told me that she only counts her calories and that she only takes in 800 calories per day. How is that even possible? I dont understand how you can take in that few of calories and not be hungry throughout the day. What do you guys think about that? Doesnt that seem like it would be hard to do?

I am only 5 weeks out and supposed to be taking in 800 -1000 calories a day. I can barely get in 6 ounces, I do not even think i come close to that many calories.

If she had no surgery I guess she lives on salads every day and lean meat. I count my calories with MyFitnessPal and I am about 750-900 calories per day too. But I eat small amounts 5-6 times per day I don’t need big salads to fill me up.

No we didn’t really get into all that, she said she just counts her calories. I have said all along I swear my sleeve is too big, not enough restriction but who knows.

I'm almost 9 months out, and I would be hungry on only 800 calories a day. I consume about 1300 calories a day. If you include what I burn in a day, then I guess I get about 800, but I actually consume 1300. I would be so hungry if I only ate 800. That doesn't seem like enough to me.

I'm 9 months out. I'm usually 800-1000 calories/day. But I'm one of the lucky ones, i don't have real hunger, just cravings. I don't eat more when I work out.

Her comment that she only counts calories is worrisome. She really needs to track her Protein intake as well as Vitamins and minerals.

I don't work out often, but I make an effort to walk.

I don't have a ton of restrictions on certain things. They're my sliders. I do eat salads in an effort to balance my choices. I indulge when I want but otherwise I have a pretty boring clean diet.

I eat around 800- 1000 intermittent fasting days, 1400 when counting non intermittent fasting days, who knows when I don't count.

Have you checked in with your NUT for a new plan lately?

It certainly depends on your height, build and original weight, so you can't expect a 5'1 woman to lose the same on the same calories as a 6'4 man. Maybe you can get an estimate on your basal metabolic rate? There are websites that calculate that for you. 800 is probably far too little for you, but 3,000 is an awful lot, even for a tall man, unless you are seriously active. You can probably shave off some calories by eating low fat and sugar-free versions of foods, and by eating higher Fiber foods so you feel full.

I am 6 foot 1
I don’t exercise at all and have not since I had the surgery. It is hard to find time with 3 kids at home one of which is 5 months old. Having said that, I do need to make better choices and start moving again. I have put on 25 pounds now since my son was born.

I'm a little over 3 months and can barely get in 500 calories a day and I do a lot of cardio at least 1 hour 5-6 days a week. I think that is why I lose slow because I burn more calories than I consume, my body is probably always in starvation mode. My appetite is still low right now.

I'm sure it will increase at some point.

I'm over 2 years out and still don't feel physical hunger. I fasted for 5 days once to test it and never felt a single hunger pang.

Some people just get lucky with their surgery and experience greatly diminished appetite compared to most.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
