Hey everyone, I'm new here. I had my surgery on October 8th 2018 and everything has been really awesome so far! Well except for the title of this post. Here recently it has become increasingly difficult to poop to the point there was a little bit of blood when I managed to get this one out. I feel like i've tried everything within my power to ease this. From trying to "train" myself so that I'd have a movement at the same time every day, stool softeners, and increasing Water intake. I've heard that Multivitamins can cause this as well as too much Fiber. I drink three Premier Protein shakes and take a Multivitamin daily (Note: I do have one solid meal a day usually a scrambled egg and either a bacon strip or sausage patty). Should I possibly change Proteins to one with little or no fiber in it or maybe find a different multivitamin? If anyone is curious I'm down 66lbs from my highest weight. Like I said everything else has been amazing minus this little hiccup. If I left something out please let me know.

If you're not taking Probiotics, you should add a probiotic yogurt to your food intake. Maybe replace a Protein Shake with some activia. That's what I was told to do.

I do take a probiotic as well. I'll give the yogurt a shot. I'm just looking for some relief lol.

Colace sucks. If you need relief, take Milk of Magnesia. It is vile tasting, but that stuff works.

2 months out and I'm still experiencing problem here and there. I take the Smooth Move tea and that helps out.

I have tried colace and not the greatest. My nutritionist recommended Swift Kriss.. I got it on Amazon and i believe it is all natural. I have taken that on top of colace and it worked. Next time i will attempt it by itself to see what it is that is actually working LOL.. She did not recommend the Smooth Move because of the caffeine. Although, I thought Fiber assisted in the movement of BM's? Maybe I am wrong!

I had taken colace pills in past, worked moderately well although MoM usually gets things done better. So when I had my recent hospitalization/ medical imprisonment(after 6 days you get mentally cranky) and due to fouled out hydrations and lack of needful exercise, I was bound up tighter than a fat lady in a Playtex girdle. So I was offered liquid Colace, oh brothers and sister, Do not try to ingest it! Made me PUKE every time, what good does it do if you Cannot keep It Down!? Finally spent an miserable 1.5 hours post-enema on Sunday of that week producing 💩, 8 days after my previous parting. Told them I needed relief since the previous Wednesday. Even had resident feel my upper abdomen, said "well it FEELS SOFT" yeah but the roadblock was at end of that traintrack, felt like2 express and a local train had a pile-up Down Low.
Weird thing, once I got my PICC line and started on TPN,my BM are light brown, soft and easy to pass, seems a radical way to achieve it but What the Hey, better that than the tragic roadblock, and only liquids going through my GI system by 👄 mouth.

The smooth move tea is caffeine free. Herbal tea doesn't have caffeine in it...

Fiber back up some people and helps others go. It all depends on how your body processes it.

I went 17 days without pooping at one point so I know this pain well. LOL. I take Colace twice a day now and a Mag Citrate PILL (DO NOT GET THE LIQUID) in the evening. If I happen to go more than 3 days without going, I take some Milk of Magnesia. Smooth Moves tea works, as well, but I've found MoM to be better. You can also have Miralax twice a day... just add it to WARM drinks and not cold because it is not unflavored, despite its claims. lol. Miralax is meh, though.

I was told not to take fiber because it is bulking. I had a hernia after surgery, though, and that may play a factor into why I was told no fiber supplements.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
