Sleeved Tuesday. Extreme diarrhea. Dr wants me to keep drinking and go to ER! What’s the point? Until I eat solids, I’ll go to ER?? This is BS! Before the surgery I asked this question and was told it will all work out! Any suggestions???

I would go to the ER. Extreme diarrhea seems abnormal. Especially considering you haven’t eaten anything solid for a few days maybe even weeks. Doesn’t sound right.

I had diarrhea for a couple of days after my surgery. I've never been diagnosed with IBS though, but my doctor said that I do have symptoms of it. Mine definitely wasn't extreme though. If your doctor thinks you should get checked out, you should. Don't want you to get dehydrated.

Yeah, I can't remember how long it lasted exactly, but it was only for like 2-5 days.

I have IBS. I was sleeved 10 days ago. I had diarrhea for the first 7 or so days but I was consistent in the way that I would go once every morning but it just happen to be diarrhea. After about a week, I've been having more solid movements. Still extremely soft but not diarrhea which I kind of expect because I'm on liquids only. My stomach/bowl movements are no worse off than they were before surgery so I'm not upset about it.

Thank you all for your response. Got the diarrhea to stop but think somehow I have a fissure. I’m taking my painkillers for the Fisssure and not for the surgery how crazy is that?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
