Pain after stricture dilation

Recommended Posts

I just had my stomach dilated after the surgeon found a stricture. I have been having intense pain in my stomach and side ever since. Has anyone else had this? It hurts worse than after my sleeve surgery.

If it's been more than 2 days, contact your surgeon/surgical team and let them know. But pain is going to happen after forcefully stretching a part of your digestive system.

And it did not, Dr Noria also found ulceration down there and on back wall of my jejunem. So now on Carafate every 6 hours- 6am- Noon-6pm-Midnight, upped my Omeprazole to 2x daily, told me to maintain same diet, using the term loosely for my puny liquids and October 26th we try again, maybe swelling/ulceration, whatever stopped her before has subsided and,she can move ahead with dialating me, Ellie123 had hers done on the past Monday, she felt so much like a brand-new woman she was able,to take a business trip to the UK. I WANT THAT!

I don't mean to be mean or something, but I forgot Sleevers could get structured also, guess I thought only Bypassers got this.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
